"I think you're going to look really good with bangs," Steph blurted out, completely out of nowhere.
I blinked at her, the sudden shift in topic knocking me off balance. "Uhn?"
She leaned back on my bed, propping her head up with one hand, the other twirling the pen she had completely stopped using for our English Lit project. "Like, full-on bangs. It would look so cool. I don't think I've ever seen a silver-haired girl with bangs."
I tilted my head, still confused. "You've never seen a silver-haired girl before."
"Well, Lilah counts."
"She's more blonde than silver, Steph."
"That's true," she agreed with a casual shrug, waving the thought away. "Anyway, that doesn't matter. I've got you and Lena now."
That last part—especially the way she emphasized Lena's name—made something in my chest tighten. I sighed, finally setting my pen down. I shifted on my bed, grabbed a pillow and used it to prop myself up so I could fully face her.
