Chapter 48

Zairon had no reaction and just stared at me. I got out of bed and pulled him up as well. I wanted to show him that he had nothing to worry about, that I wasn't hiding anything. But deep inside, I knew there was something I needed to tell him, but I was still hesitating.

"I have to go, I have something to take care of," I said to him, with a hint of nervousness in my voice. I knew he wanted to ask what it was, so before he could speak, I smiled at him.

"Don't worry," I added, trying to ease his concerns. "I'm just going to hang out with my cousin and her kids. I want to spend some bonding time with them."

He looked at me, still unconvinced. So I said, "And if I have time, I'll come to your house."

With those words, I saw a change in his expression. He was surprised and quickly nodded. "Sure, baby. Take your time. I'll be waiting for you. But do you want me to pick you up after you're done?"
