"Haugghh. . .you're being so noisy so early in the morning."
The girl in front of me yawned and seemed to be quite annoyed. No surprise there, I was making such a fuss just a moment ago.
"Oh. . .my bad. I was just relieved that someone else was here. I thought I was alone so-"
"Hmm. . ."
She stared at me for a while and made a strange face.
"Then. . .why don't you come in?"
"!!"
(Now that's a shocker, I thought she would chase me away.)
"Is it okay?"
". . .Hm?"
"For me to get in?"
I asked her to make sure I was not interrupting anything or invading her privacy.
". . .Hm?? What a strange thing to say. Would I ask you to get in if I didn't want you to?"
"Well. . .no, but I do want to show a little bit of courtesy. I don't want to cause you any trouble is all."
The moment I said that she made such a baffled expression.
". . .You already bothered me the moment you knocked the wall."
"Ahh. . .I'm sorry."
(She must've been sleeping this whole time, and I woke her up. What a blunder!)
The moment I apologized, there was an awkward silence. But I really didn't know what else to say, and I was starting to feel nervous.
". . .Haaa. Just hurry up and get in, I don't want another annoyance barging in here."
"Hm? Ah, right. Then, pardon me for intruding, I guess."
". . .Hm."
As I walked into her room, she kept glancing around 'outside' warily.
(Was there anything dangerous in here after all? In a dream? Well, I do get dreams where I get chased by someone. Those creepy ones.)
". . .Make yourself at home, I'll go get something."
"Ah. . .sure."
As she passed me, I noticed that she was trudging, dragging along her goat plushie.
(Is she tired or something? Come to think of it, she just woke up, so maybe it's because of that.)
Regardless, I sat down and took a moment to observe the room. It wasn't bright, but it wasn't too dark either. It was quite tidy, just one side though.
In the other corner, there are books, a bunch of blankets, and maybe a few pillows scattered all over the floor. But for some reason, it felt just right. I bet I can dive in there, and I wouldn't even feel the floor.
The room also had a subtle woody fragrance, bringing in a sense of relaxation. My body immediately went lax as I took a whiff of that scent.
". . . . ."
It was only after a few minutes before I was startled by a clattering sound. The girl brought tea, milk, honey, bread, butter, eggs, and sausages.
"So there's food here too?"
". . .Hm."
"Thanks for the food!"
". . . . ."
She sat on the chair right and placed her goat plushie sprawled on the floor. I gobbled up the food like a starved child. It had a subtle bland taste, not exactly as I remember.
(Well, since it's like this. . .)
I glanced at the girl in front of me, who was slowly munching on the food with an indifferent expression.
"Hey. . .I want to ask you something."
". . . . ."
She took a moment to make sure there was no food left in her mouth before she spoke.
". . .What is it?"
"This is not a dream, is it?"
