Chapter 61: Death (2)

But hey, the stronger the better, and Death doesn't sound like a weak feature.

Honestly, it's imposing, what can you get away with? The name itself is no joke, but, even though it has that name, I've found that even if the trait has matching names, it depends on the user and their understanding or enlightenment I believe when they awakened it.

For example, there is regeneration, which is a trait that now me and Eirlys share. They may be named the same and even have the same base functions, but my regeneration, though I don't like to admit it, is weaker than hers.

Although it is innate, like the other types with this trait, she can regenerate as long as she has mana in her body, even if her heart is pierced. I even know that the strongest user can regenerate from a small remaining flame formed from his mana, even if he has no body.

On the other hand, my regeneration, although it is from the light element, which makes it different to begin with, I don't think I can regenerate to that degree. Even at the apex of my previous life, though if I'm cut in half, I think I can recover with enough mana that would be the most I can do.

That's how different traits are depending on people. There are people who spent years perfecting it until they reach that level and their descendants who inherited it perfect it even more.

Someone like me, who is only first generation, doesn't have that much accumulation to make it that strong. But the difference I can narrow it down, since when I first awakened regeneration, I could only regenerate wounds faster by boosting spells.

Not unlike healing, but over the years I learned to regenerate my mana and even lost limbs without the aid of spells. And I can still improve it to reach the level that maybe with a small piece of my light mana I can survive.

After thinking about how to get the best out of all the awakened traits, Lili finished choosing her work.

"Now yes, Lili, tell me what happened for you to awaken that. Also, explain to me how it works."

Lili let out a sigh shaking her head before replying:

[haaa How impatient... I don't know.]

"Lili, stop playing games. This is serious."

"If I tell you I don't know, it's that I don't know... it just happened."

"..." I looked at her, hoping for more.

[You see, I was going to awaken the demonic trait, but during the awakening, that trait came to mind and somehow I got it.]

"You know that's not enough to awaken a trait, let alone something called Death)."

[...Think about it, what are the external factors, beyond comprehension, that can awaken a trait?]

"Hmmm..." I pondered. There were many ways to awaken a trait. The first and most obvious was to know a lot about it, such as having a lot of spells and sealing skills that would allow you to figure out for yourself what sealing is and awaken it as a trait.

It could also be awakened if you had a magical item or weapon with a spell or trait directly imprinted on it and studied or used it enough. Also, experiencing something related to the trait, such as casting spells or healing and regeneration abilities after hurting yourself badly, could be another way. In the end, it was all about understanding and how good you were at understanding the concept until you awakened the trait. Death, uh...

"Oh... it's because we experience dying."

[Well, that might be one of the factors, but remember which one I'm good at.]

"Necromancy... but if so all necromancers would awaken such a trait but I've never heard or seen anything similar."

[Yes, but they've never experienced dying, plus the fact that I was a necromancer in a way is all that's needed.]

"Hey, Lili, even if we call it necromancy, it's nothing more than a copy. We don't even know any spells or skills without mentioning a necromancy-related job, even the status window didn't recognize it anywhere."

[But it's stronger than real necromancers, and we handle the dead, don't we?!]

"You're right, but..."

[No matter what it is, the important thing is that we awakened this trait. Period.]

He still had doubts about Lili's awakened trait. I felt that wouldn't be enough to fill the knowledge gap.

Lili and I have a way of fighting that can vary depending on what we are facing usually when we face a powerful enemy or just a few, we tend to fight together with her helping me as usual, but there are times when we have to fight separately if the creature we are fighting has an army or many creatures with it.

That's when we split up, and when she is alone she can be called a sort of necrotic mage or necro cancer as she raises her army of shadows and levels the situation so I can concentrate on the elite and the leaders without much pressure.

From an external point of view, it would look like a very advanced necromancer job with many spells or related skills, but the truth is that we didn't have any necromancy spells or skills.

However, due to some factors, we discovered the way to make our own army and not only that, it was even stronger than real necromancers. Now that we have the sealing trait, the last thing we needed to start our immortal army again, it's time to start creating them.

Not for nothing, in our previous life, even though we lost and died, we screwed them up to such a degree that the real leaders had to leave.

"By the way, Lili, how's your status page?"

[[USER HAS ACCESS TO THE STATUS PAGE OF THE SEED OF DARKNESS. JUST HAVE TO THINK OF IT AS A SECOND PAGE.]]]

When I saw Lili's status, I noticed that I could not see her race, with the divine eyes or rather with the eyes of truth I noticed that when I looked at the status windows of other awakened people, when they were not human usually in the level appeared their race along with their rank.

but with Lili I noticed that question marks appeared, something that only happens when the rank was too high or they had a strong protection barrier but Lili didn't have that, it's basically like a second state of mine so there shouldn't be restrictions but maybe it was for another reason so I stopped thinking about it and looked at the rest.

Except for the job and obviously the name, everything was the same as my own status page. The difference was that she didn't have the light and lightning related stuff that I did, as well as the abilities.

"Hey, Gaia, how exactly does Lili's window work now?"

[[THE STATUS WINDOW AS FAR AS STATS ARTS AND SPELLS ARE CONCERNED REMAIN THE SAME AS THE USER'S AND SHE CAN'T INTERVENE IN THE ALLOCATION OF POINTS UNLESS I GRANT PERMISSION ON THE OTHER HAND SHE IS LIMITED ONLY TO THINGS RELATED TO HER ELEMENT FOR OBVIOUS REASONS, BUT THE MAIN ADVANTAGE IS THAT NOW THE ENTITY(LILI) CAN HAVE INDEPENDENT JOBS AND SKILLS]]

"Well, that's kind of obvious.... Hey, lili, aren't you happy? Now you can learn skills."

[Umm, they're hard to get anyway and I already have a lot of spells].

"Come on, don't be like that. Remember, we tried to get you to learn some of them before and we couldn't. This is advantageous for both of us. Besides, you now have the skills from the job you chose, If I had known this, I would have kept the Deathblade skill for you."

[...Well, since you're always causing me trouble, it's the least you can do. Hmm...you know now that I think about it All the darkness skills should be mine].

"Yes, as you say your majesty."

[What? You want to fight?]

"Calm down, calm down. We will raid one of the eight labyrinths in a few days. The skills will be easy to get there."

I didn't mind Lili learning all the darkness skills since as you say we have a lot of darkness spells and what's more, since Lili is to begin with a kind of darkness mana no one would get better use out of it than her.

that's why in our previous life we tried to get her to learn some spells, for example if Lili had spells like shackles of darkness that limits the opponents our coordinated fights would be more fluid since the skills are almost instant to cast and don't need as much concentration, but using many skills at once during a fight is difficult so now that Lili has the ability to learn skills , our coordinated and overall strength increase.

[hum changing the subject as I always have...but well right now the most important thing is to do 'that' right, now that we are four stars it will be a piece of cake]

"Come on, Lili, I've told you to stop getting overconfident and raising flags.... But yeah, I guess we have more wiggle room."

[have we? You mean have I, because someone left all the work to me].

"It can't be helped, but I'm helping you in a way plus it all started because of your idea." Shrugging off Lili's complaints, I could see it was dawn when we finished talking. I lay down to rest. Hours passed and, at noon, I went with all the children to buy costumes for the evening party.
