Pov Dia,
Today was a celebration in honor of the end of Yasaka's "conquest" of the Youkai world.
It took more time than expected, but now Yasaka is officially the new certifying leader of the Youkai faction and also the representative of Amaterasu in the world. This was achieved after she finally merged her power with the Ley Line.
The only problem now is that she's bound to Kyoto and cannot stray too far for too long; otherwise, she will die, and the city will be destroyed.
Of course, I could remove this constraint, but I would only do so if she asked me. Even then, it would be for a limited time because I will not let her abandon her duties as she pleases.
Yasaka was quite shy today as she stood beside Ama, who only praised her and said that both Inari and Kurama would be proud of her.
Amaterasu: "Dia, when is your marriage with Yasaka?"
As if by chance, I was taking a drink when she said that. I choked and spat out the contents of the glass.
The others were confused and wondered why Ama had said that.
Yasaka: "Why do you say that, Amaterasu-sama?"
Seeing Yasaka—who had an almost adult appearance but lacked the mature aura to match—blushing was quite beautiful.
Amaterasu: "Because Dia has agreed to marry you."
Dia.exe has stopped working.
Dia: "When did I agree to do that?"
My brain raced, trying to recall this moment, but I couldn't find it.
Amaterasu: "Probably a few days after Inari gave me this marriage contract paper."
She handed me a sheet of paper, which I quickly took to verify her words.
Dia: "What is this delusion? I do remember this contract, but it's..."
I paused, examining the document again.
Dia: "I obviously signed it, but at the time it stipulated that if something happened to Inari and Kurama, I should take care of their daughter. So where did this line come from, saying that when she turns 18, I should marry her?"
Back when Inari handed me the contract, I was troubled but agreed because I intended to take care of Yasaka if something happened to her parents. I assumed Inari just wanted confirmation of my intentions.
Amaterasu: "The contract isn't technically false. If you were married to her, you would indeed take care of her—perhaps on a higher level than if she weren't your wife, but still."
She wasn't wrong, but the only way I could have missed this line was if it had been hidden with illusion magic. Since she handed it to me and I signed it after looking over it just once, I didn't pay enough attention to notice anything that could conceal the line.
Yasaka's ears and tail drooped as she spoke.
Yasaka: "You should refuse this contract. My mother forced you into it, and even if I feel something for you, I don't want you to be obligated because of her."
I looked at her with soft eyes before pulling her into my arms.
Dia: "Unfortunately, I can't refuse the contract because I signed it, and once done, every devil must honor their contracts. But I don't hate you. In fact, I think you're very cute. I've never seen you as a woman, more like a little sister, but I'm willing to make an effort since you'll soon become my wife."
I had no choice, but now I'm bound to this and will do my best to embrace it.
Amaterasu: "Inari believed that only Dia would be worthy of becoming your spouse. She wanted to protect you from any political marriage alliances and from ending up with someone she couldn't approve of. She ensured you wouldn't have to marry anyone else."
Dia: "She's right, even if I wish things could have been different."
Tomorrow, I'll plan a date with my future wife.
