"Dr. Li, everyone, what's going on with you all?" Seeing his colleagues with the same expressions as the nurses, Ye Xiu couldn't help but smile wryly. "If you have something to say, just say it. Don't tease me like this."
"Uh, nothing really," Dr. Li quickly cleared his throat and changed the subject with a forced smile. "By the way, did you know? The elderly Mr. Feng you saved last time has been diagnosed with a brain tumor and has already had surgery. His son came to inform us today."
As the saying goes, one shouldn't reveal another's shortcomings. It was clear Ye Xiu didn't want his financial situation to be widely known, and their behavior had already been too obvious. They couldn't continue discussing it.
When Dr. Li brought up Mr. Feng's situation, the group of doctors once again looked at Ye Xiu with admiration. When Mr. Feng had suddenly gone into ventricular fibrillation, no one could determine the cause except Ye Xiu, who had noticed a small clue suggesting a possible brain issue. Many had mocked Ye Xiu at the time for his guesswork.
While Ye Xiu's judgment did have an element of luck and some speculation, it still highlighted his exceptional medical skills. How had he been the only one to make that deduction when so many others, including the chief, had missed it?
"Yes, I heard about Mr. Feng. I heard Dr. Zhao from neurosurgery performed the operation," Ye Xiu replied, not mentioning that he had already checked on Mr. Feng. Some things were better left unsaid; stating them could alter their significance.
"That's right, I heard the surgery was perfect! Dr. Zhao really lives up to her reputation," one doctor exclaimed.
"Yeah, Dr. Zhao is truly a rising star in the medical field. I heard she completed two surgeries in one day yesterday, both with 100% success rates! The Ice Queen is amazing!"
"Even a top expert from Xiehe Hospital praised Dr. Zhao on TV! Most people can't have both beauty and talent, but our Dr. Zhao has both in spades. She's extraordinary!"
Talking about Zhao Ruobing, everyone became excited. The Ice Queen was the idol of every male doctor at Beijiao Third Hospital. Whether married or single, her stunning looks and icy demeanor captivated every man who met her.
Seeing their excitement, Ye Xiu was a bit taken aback. Zhao Ruobing was indeed skilled, but wasn't this reaction a bit over the top? He had merely mentioned her name, and they were already so animated.
"Dr. Ye, you haven't met Dr. Zhao yet, have you? If you did, you'd understand why she's called the Ice Queen!" a young male doctor said, looking at Ye Xiu with a hint of pity.
"Exactly, Dr. Ye. If you get a chance, you should visit neurosurgery. But just a peek from afar, okay? Don't let Dr. Zhao catch you, or the consequences could be severe."
"Right, Dr. Ye, you should see her. By the way, I heard she's around your age and single too. But don't get your hopes up, the Ice Queen isn't easy to win over."
"Yes, she's on a completely different level. Her beauty and talent are one thing, but she also has a mysterious, powerful background. Even Director Zheng treats her with utmost respect. The line of suitors for her could stretch from our hospital to the city center."
The other doctors nodded in agreement, seeing Ye Xiu and Zhao Ruobing as worlds apart. No matter how hard Ye Xiu worked or how good he was, he was still just a struggling doctor driving a Little Q. Even if his financial situation were ten or a hundred times better, he wouldn't be in the same league as Zhao Ruobing.
Ye Xiu felt a bit speechless listening to them. He hadn't said anything about Zhao Ruobing, yet somehow the conversation had turned into him supposedly pursuing her. They had been the ones to bring her up, not him!
Feeling unjustly accused, Ye Xiu was about to say something when he heard the sharp, quick clack of high heels approaching.
A tall, slender woman in a perfectly tailored suit with a frosty expression stepped out of the elevator and walked briskly towards them.
"Zhao Ruobing!" The doctors stared in awe at the beautiful, icy woman approaching. They couldn't believe their eyes; they had just been talking about her, and here she was.
Some even rubbed their eyes, thinking it might be an illusion. But it wasn't, and they were filled with disbelief.
Zhao Ruobing, the deputy chief of neurosurgery, had no reason to be in the respiratory department. Why was she here?
After a moment of shock, they regained their composure. Dr. Li, slightly nervous, spoke up, "Dr. Zhao, is there something we can help you with in the respiratory department?"
"I'm here to see someone," Zhao Ruobing replied coldly.
"Are you looking for Director Wang? We can call him for you," a young doctor quickly offered, eager to assist and feeling proud of his quick reaction.
"No need. The person I'm looking for is right here," Zhao Ruobing said, her cold gaze fixed on Ye Xiu. "Dr. Ye, can we talk privately?"
