Chapter 11: Terror

"..."

"..."

The two stayed silent, not making a single sound.

The light shone in their direction for a moment before it moved to the left and started scanning the whole forest.

The little girl shook in fear and covered her eyes with her hands, silently sobbing. The boy stared at her for a moment, then moved his hand over his mouth.

"Shhhh...." He softly gestured to the little girl.

The girl silently sobbed, looked at him, then nodded her head and stayed still.

The light passed through them a few times before a voice could be heard.

"That's weird, i swore i heard someone talking."

"It's probably just the wind."

"The wind...? No, it sounded like two children."

".... Maybe it's really just the wind?"

"..."

The voices of two men sounded out before the roar of an engine started.

"Come on, we're only a few tens of kilometers away from Sarusalem City."

"Mn, yeah."

A few moments later, the two men left the place with their vehicle.

The girl looked up, then tried to stand up, but the boy stopped her.

"No." He mouthed to her silently.

The girl looked at him, then stayed still.

Silence descended in the area, only the occasional cries of crickets sounded out.

Then, the two men's voices suddenly sounded out.

"It really was the wind."

"Hmm, well, let's go back then. No one should be here."

"Easy for you to say. I heard them talking."

"But no one is here, asshole."

"... Let's try searching the forest? What if someone is hiding?"

"And get killed one by one? No fuckin way dude."

The first man went silent for a moment, then he remarked, confused.

"Killed?"

"Yeah, killed. Isn't this like those in the movies, like someone would come and search the area only to die from some monster or somethin'."

"...You watched way too many movies."

"Yeah, i was just a normal person a few years back."

"Huff, okay fine. Let's go."

"I was waiting for you to say that."

The engine started, then the vehicle moved away, much clearer this time.

The boy stared at the sky for a moment, then slowly stood up.

"..."

He scanned the entire area for a moment, looked at the campsite that the men created in a hurry. He found no one there and car tracks all over the place.

Then he turned to the little girl, who was already crawling away.

"Hey." He called out.

The little girl stiffened and hurriedly stood up and ran away. She then got behind a tree and stared at him.

"D-Don't go near me! Or else... or else.... or else im going to hurt you!"

The boy stared at her for a moment.

Then, he nodded his head.

"Okay." He then slowly backed away and went to his mini campsite.

The girl stared at him for a moment. Upon seeing that he had no intentions to hurt or even try to do something to her, she let down her guard a little.

She gave it a thought for a moment, before seeing the boy slowly walking towards the campsite that the two men created.

He silently went there, looked around, went inside a tent, and then took out a bag of what seemed to be filled with food.

Her eyes focused on the bag; her eyes sparkling.

The boy continued searching the tent.

Meanwhile, the girl sneaked behind him silently. She hid for a moment, staring at the boy searching the entire camp, then her eyes went to the bag filled with food.

A plan started to form in her small head.

First, she would time her plan right. When the boy would enter the other tent, she would roll forward, making her get near to the bag filled with what she presumed to be food.

Then she would grab the thing, run far, far away, and eat the food inside!

Her eyes sparkled as she stared at the bag, then she prepared herself.

The boy had a bag on his arms and placed it down beside the bag. Then he let out a small sigh to let exhaustion out of his lungs before looking at the second tent and went in.

This was the time!

The little girl rolled forward but a variable stopped her entire plan.

".... What are you doing?"

She didn't put the fact that maybe the other tent had nothing in her calculations!

She was caught by the boy when she was in the middle of rolling forward. When she stopped and was already near the bag, the boy was already staring at her.

The little girl froze, staring at the boy.

The boy stared at her, then to the bag near her and immediately understood.

"Do you like that bag?"
