Chapter 24: Abyss

The man found himself in a cave. Drops of blood was spilled inside, torn clothes could be found everywhere.

The man's heart turned cold but he continued to pray.

Pray that the girl was still alive, that she was still breathing.

This was all his fault, if he had not asked her to gather fruits for him…

If he had not just sent her away in this dangerous forest…

Nothing would've happened. This would've never happened.

The man regretted it. He really did.

But he prayed, and prayed, for the girl to be alive, to be safe from harm.

He entered the cave and immediately found a large hulking figure with its back turned to him.

The man grabbed his knife and gun, then he searched the area of the bear.

And found...

A little girl lying closely, her entire body riddled with wounds and blood.

The man stared at this; his eyes shaken.

No, not again.

He can't lose someone again.

He can't lose the ones he loved once again.

The man gritted his teeth and screamed, he aimed his gun at the bear and shot towards its head.

The bear narrowly dodged its head and growled at him, before roaring in anger and pounced on him.

The man held the knife and stabbed the bear with it, only for him to be flung to a nearby wall. Then the man let out another bullet this time it hit the bear's legs but it didn't stop the bear from pouncing on him.

It hurts.

It used its long claws and swiped it to the man, blood seeped through the wounds on his chest as the man coughed blood.

He was afraid, the man was afraid.

After all, he was but a human and his opponent was a bear.

It was something that humans should not fight against.

The man grabbed the knife stuck in the bear's shoulder and tried to pull it out only for the bear to grab him by the waist, stabbing its claws inside, and throwing him down.

The bear then opened its mouth wide and tried to fit the man's head inside but the man aimed his gun at the bear's mouth and let out a bullet.

The bear roared in pain.

Blood bursts through the wound as the bear swung its two paws down at him, hitting him with heavy paws. The man coughed up more blood but the bear screamed and roared in pain. It then fell and lied down on the ground on its side.

It was all his fault.

Wheeze.

This was all his fault.

The man stood up, then stared at the bear for a moment, before aiming his gun at its head and shot it. Emptying the entire bullet in the magazine.

He then turned to the little girl and went to her side.

He checked her pulse and found that it was slowing down, then he checked her body for any grievous wounds.

Most of it was scratches but there was an obvious wound on her head, as if she had been hit before by something.

Her back had a three claw marks that went from her neck to her waist, it was a large wound and blood seeped from the wound.

The man then scooped her in his arms and ran out of the cave, running through the forest quickly, carefully stepping in order to not fall.

The man arrived at the house and pushed the door open, then he felt her pulse and found that it was barely beating. It was faint, hard to feel.

The tore off her clothes and started performing cpr.
