I got outside the house, the cool breeze cascading through the space touched my body. I was looking through the horizon, cars moving at intervals through the road.
Gradually the sun started to rise completely and soon, it was up shining brightly soothing my skin with its rays.
"Here you are!" Drake said softly holding my from behind. I grabbed his hands on my neck smiling back at him.
"You were sleeping soundly, I didn't want to wake you."
"It's alright. You are good?" He asked putting up a worrisome look for a few seconds.
"Yeah I am fine, just came to catch some breath." I responded holding his hand firmly.
"Do you think they will come for us?" I asked turning my head backwards to look at Drake.
He paused for a while, not sure of what to reply. But his smile was still on his face. One feature that made him exceptional.
"You really don't have to worry your pretty head, we will be fine." Drake's confidence was amazing, but deep down u could sense the tiny worry buried in his smile, he feared not for himself but for me. He knew that more bounty hunters could come after me and this meant that I was not safe.
"I will be here. No one is gonna hurt you. I promise!."
Staring right into his eyes, I could see firmness in his words. Surely he was willing to do anything to make sure I was safe. But common, I am a Werewolf, he is Human. What really could he do?
"We should start a life here in Roseville. Sam could help us with whatever we need."
"Are you sure about that?." I asked turning again to face him but he was certain of the words he spoke. He nodded affirming the words he had spoken.
"Where do we start?" I asked expecting him to give me a plan.
"Don't worry, we will know when the time is right."
Just then Sam appeared from behind us, he had dropped his riffle but that didn't stop him from looking at me with caution. I could see the resentment he felt maybe for me or for my kind. Even though he refused to speak so much, I could sense the fear inside of him each time I came close to him.
"Drake. A word."
Drake turned around and smiled at him signaling that he was going to join him soon. Sam nodded and went back into the house.
"See seems to be displeased with my presence."
"Oh no! He is concerned about me. Sam and I have been together for a long time."
Drake's words were reassuring but I knew that Sam was going to get rid of me if need be.
"Well I hope he doesn't point his riffle at me someday." I said with a worrisome look plastered all over my face.
"Don't worry, he will come around."
Drake left me standing at the spot and walked into the house. I stood there for a while and moved towards the car. I sat on the bonnet looking as the cars on the road drove past.
Sitting on the car, I thought about the encounters I had experienced within the past few weeks. From my death to my rebirth to my adventures with Drake down to my arrival at Roseville. It really had been a lot!
Deep down I really missed my father, each day I thought about him and how much I really wanted to find out about what really happened to him. How he could have just disappeared without a trace.
Giving that his car was still parked at its usual spot meant that something strange had happened to him. I was determined to find out someday.
"Enjoying the view?"
I turned abruptly, standing right next to me was Sam, he was dressed in a pair of black jeans, a black jacket and boots to match. It seemed as though he was going somewhere.
I couldn't find the right words to reply to his words, so I just kept mute and responded with a slight how accompanied with a smile.
"You know they would do everything to make sure they kill you. Your kind knows nothing about mercy."
Again, I couldn't find the right words to respond to his words. Even though I felt the truth in his words, I wasn't sure if he was saying them because he cared or because he wanted to get rid of me.
"Drake was just a boy when I found him wandering the streets, I am been the one caring for him. He has a promising future and I wouldn't want anyone ruining that, not even you." For a bit of time he paused, bending his head to avoid my eyes, he was still cautious of me.
"He seems to be really fond of you, he says you are harmless and I am forced to believe him. He has always made the right choice. Please let him get hurt, he is all I've got."
Right! He was truly concerned about Drake and just wanted to be sure that I was not going to harm him or lead him towards harm. I nodded in agreement forcefully smiling back at him.
"It's ok! I have to go now, the store won't run itself."
Sam left me and moved towards the back of the house. Few seconds later, he drove out with a cruiser bike and down the road he went with a speed.
Whatever they must have discussed, I was certain that Drake must have assured Sam that I wasn't going to bring trouble to them.
"I see you had a chat with Sam. See, I told you he was going to come around."
"Yeah." Drake appeared from my back smiling. He took my hands and helped me get down from the top of the car.
"Come, I want to show you something." He said dragging my hand softly as he walked back into the house holding onto my hand.
We walked into the room Sam gave us through the staircase and right there on the bed was a box.
"What's inside?" I asked, my eyes glued at the box which had some cobwebs all over.
"Come sit, I brought it from the attic. These are some of the things I know about Werewolves."
I sat on the bed next to Drake eager to find out what he was talking about. Inside the box were pictures, journals, a camera, some ancient scripts and books, some silver bullets, some sculptures and a couple of other things I couldn't really identity.
"What's inside this?" I asked taking out a small bottle from the box.
"That's wolf bane, you really shouldn't be so close to it."
Dropping it back into the box, I giggled remembering the last time I was shot with an arrow laced with the poison.
I went through the journals, books and the pictures inside the box, I discovered some of the secrets that were hidden about my kind. I couldn't read the words in the ancient scripts but with the knowledge I had, I knew that for a Werewolf to be declared rogue, that meant that the Lycan council must have decided her fate and that meant that Alphas of packs were given the sacred duty of finding the Werewolf and finishing him or her off.
I wondered what must have made the Lycan council to declare me a rogue. Boris! He must have instigated them into making such declaration with whatever he said to them. He was the Alpha of Kira's Pack and this meant that he has an advantage over us.
"Don't worry, no one would find us here, we will begin a new life here with a fresh identity. Sam has promised to help."
"Fresh identity? What do we do?"
"We will help out in his store. He surely needs more hands with sales and packing. That way, we get to save up and start up in a new city far from this place. We could even move to another city."
Apparently, Drake had figured everything out. As much as I wasn't so sure about his plan, that was absolutely a good shot for me!
I rested my head on his shoulder sighing in anticipation of the turn out of events.
"I love you!"
That was the first time he said those words, and they resounding in my ears giving my a tingle in my ribs. Lifting my head from his shoulder, I stared right into his eyes and smiled.
"I love you too." I said softly and laid my head back on his shoulder.
The rest of the day wasn't so adventurous as the days in the cave. It was more like a day to think about the plans we made and how best to carry them out. However, I wouldn't forget to mention that Drake made me breakfast. It was eggs and some bacon. Such a darling!
Sam got home later that evening and we discussed our plans over dinner. He was happy that we offered to help out in his store.
"We start tomorrow then!" He said in excitement, taken some vegetable from the big bowl on the table.
