Discovery

Getting home, we headed straight to our room after ensuring that we were not followed. The doors locked properly and the lights turned off. Sam had been out for a few days, we were certain he was not going to be home that night.

"Y're alright?"

"Yeah!" I answered Drake who seemed really worried. It had been long he saw me in that mood and I could really see the concern in his facial expression.

Instantly I remembered that my father's phone had fallen to the floor and could have cracked, I opened my handbag and brought out the phone. Pressing on the power button, the phone came on. I gasped in relief.

We had been trying so hard to find out the password to the phone, maybe it could lead us to something regarding my father's disappearance. Looking at the screen of the phone, I smiled; my father used a picture of my mother as his Lock Screen wallpaper.

"She was very beautiful." Darius said softly admiring the picture of my mother in the screen. He came closer and held me on my shoulders kissing my cheek from behind. I turned and smiled at him touching his hands while they rested on my shoulders.

"Yeah, she was."

"It must have been really painful not to have seen her. I wish I knew my mother too." Drake's hands left my shoulders and went to his necklace pressing on to it. I turned towards him with a soft smile. We had so much in common!

"He called her his moonlight. He said she helped him out when he came to the human world."

"He must have loved her so much!"

"Yeah he did. Spoke so much about her." I replied Drake, my eyes still glued at the picture in the screen.

Just then, the thought of realization hit me.

"Wait! Moonlight."

"Are you ok?" Drake asked but I ignored him.

"Moonlight?" I said and tapped on the phone. Then I typed in the word 'moonlight'. The feeling of hope running through my mind. As I pressed on the enter button with a strong anticipation, I widened my eyes expectant of whatever the outcome was going to be.

Yeah! The phone unlocked!

"Oh shit!" I screamed in excitement almost allowing the phone to fall off from my hands.

Drake noticed my excitement and looked at the phone. Noticing that the phone was unlocked, he walked through my back and sat in front of me looking right into the screen.

I clicked on the gallery of the phone but there was only a picture; a picture of my dad and mum together sitting at a park under the dusk. I left the gallery and clicked on the message icon. There were many messages, many of them were unread; the recent one was sent few days earlier.

"Cesseum foederis! Foedus praetorum." I read the message out loud but seemed like a strange language which I had never heard.

"That's strange." Drake said extending his hands towards the phone. I handed it over to him instantly. Clicking on the top to see who the sender was, we discovered a number. Drake dialed it but it seemed not to be connecting. After several failed attempts, he gave up and scrolled through the other messages. There were about 8 unread messages and all written in the same similar strange language.

"This looks very familiar." Drake immediately rushed towards the table in the center of the room and grabbed the brown bag. He brought out the book he had inside and flipped it open immediately.

"That's ancient Latin, a language that the original werewolves spoke. It seems really outdated but still used by secret societies of the Alliance to communicate."

Drake took a closer look at the messages in the phone checking the dates and time they were sent.

"These messages were sent once every year and at a particular time." He pointed at the time on the screen.

"Here look, this was sent at midnight, this was also sent at midnight and so were others. Whoever sent this messages was sending them for a reason. Your father didn't open the messages sent from the time of his disappearance. The last one he opened was sent seven years ago."

Drake clicked on the message he was talking about, it read ' Societatis pointe! Retributio.' Whatever that meant we didn't know.

"These should lead us to the reason behind his disappearance."

"Do you think he is dead?" I asked, a feeling of anxiety evolving through my body.

"Come here." Drake drew me closer to himself and embraced me tightly. He wasn't sure of what to say but definitely, I needed his comfort. I thought I had gotten so used to my father's disappearance but far from it, the thought of the consequences of his disappearance weakened my bones. Even though my father was a tough man, he still cared about me, the picture of his smile constantly appearing in my mind.

"Don't worry Lyla. You will be fine!" I admired his reassurance, it always came through at t he right time. Drake was my strength!

Drake removed his hands from my body and took the phone from the bed. I wasn't sure of what he was looking for. He took out a pen from his pocket and wrote down the words from the most recent message sent from the unknown number. Then he flipped through the book beside him till he got to a page.

"Look here! That's a message sent to indicate an emergency meeting. I think this was sent by someone from the Alliance."

"Alliance?" I wasn't really following his words at that point but the interest in me was eager to understand what Drake was saying.

"Yes the Alliance. A sect formed by Humans and Werewolves to maintain the balance between the two worlds."

'How the hell does he know all these?' I thought but still paying attention.

"They are a powerful group who have existed for centuries, they were made up of the Alphas and Betas of several packs and some influential humans. The goal was to keep the existence of werewolves a secret."

"Whoever broke the rules established by the Alliance was made to face severe consequences."

"What rules?" I asked worried.

"There were many of them; rules against mating with humans, crossing the boundaries without permission, killing humans and so on."

"Do you think my father was summoned and made to disappear because he had me with my mother?" Drake had no answer to my question, he could only smile at me with a feeling of positivity written all over his face.

"If we could translate some of the messages here we could be able to find out where they were sent from and why."

Drake scrolled through the messages and just as he was about to click on the message before the last one, the phone went off. The battery was dead!

"Shit! Not now!" I was really mad. Drake turned the phone and sighed in disbelief. It had a different port from the phones we were using and the chargers couldn't fit. There was no charger around that could fit into the port of the phone.

"What are we gonna do now?" My mind was not at rest. I needed to desperately find out what really had happened to my father.

"The letters! Maybe they could give us a clue." Drake grabbed the car keys and left the room, I followed him immediately almost jumping the stairs.

We got into the car and I opened the glove compartment and pulled out the letters immediately removing them from the envelopes.

Drake took one of the letters and looked at it, taking it very close to his eyes but he couldn't see anything. Just then I turned on the flash of my phone and pointed it on the letter.

"Wait! Do that again." Drake could see few words but they were not very clear. I pointed the lights on the letter he was holding but they could only do little.

"We need blue light." Drake said searching the entire car with his eyes.

"Here, take this." I handed him a blue napkin I found in the glove compartment.

Drake placed the blue napkin on the surface of the flashlight and held on to the napkin tightly together with the phone. Then he handed them over to me carefully. Next he put the letter under the light allowing the blue light reflecting from the napkin to shine on the letter. The words were very clear written in the same language.

"This is going to take a lot of time to translate."

I took all the letters and envelopes and we stepped out of the car back into the house.
