With Things Finally Settled.

As we walked down the hall towards Kenneth's office I did my best to stay by Ms. Sparks's side but as it got later in the afternoon everyone was working their normal routine. Which meant that it was lunchtime for most people. Some who went to the party just to pick up some of the cake and went back to work with a small plate are probably going on their lunch but most wanted to use that time to unwind and socialize with the other departments which is both beneficial if done correctly. I bumped into more than half the passersby even when I decided to follow closely behind Ms. Sparks. I was just thinking that I might've used up an extraordinary amount of luck to get Ms. Sparks. I am super lucky to have found her after all. My past partners all had me because they looked cute but Ms. Sparks was a goddess in human skin regardless of how she is seen by others. I've become so confused as to how this came about even before I started my surgeries. I know it seems that I'm thinking way too much on this and that's what my friends would say if I told them about this. I just don't want them to throw my words in my face this too soon after our last get-together last Saturday. I admit that no matter what I was captivated by her. What's more concerning though is how much she's taking up the space in my head. I can handle sharks in life and I could handle them on her end as well because I find them exciting since their constant meaningless talks gave me time to reject those placecard holders of one-night stands. I was content with everything that has gone on in my life so far. That was until last year when Ms. Sparks came into the booth I was doing my interview and took over my every thought as if she'd been a part of my entire life. Just before reaching the door of Kenneth's office Ms. Sparks turned to me and looked me up and down one good time.

"Um, Ms. Sparks? Is everything okay?"

"Oh yes, I'm good." She reassured me. "May I ask you a personal question real quick?"

"Oh of course," I assured her with a smile.

"Do you hang out with other goths in this part of town?"

"Oh, you've noticed how good I look in this huh?"

"Well, that but also I was wondering if by any chance you knew someone named Jasmine Tate?"

"Oh! I do know her!" I said excitedly. Jaz was one of my favorite people in high school back in Chicago. When she moved after graduation we kept in contact through texts and Gothbook. When I told her I was moving her she told me that she lives here now too and offered a place to stay for the first days until I found my auntie. "She's an old friend from high school. Why'd you ask?"

"Geez, I got two creeps to deal with now."

"That's a bit offensive…"

"Oh no, That's not what I mean." She said trying to explain. "She's been my best friend since we were in elementary and since reconnecting when she moved back from Chicago where you two went to high school together apparently. She's become the person I now know as now. I think we need to talk after work to clear up some misunderstandings though."

"Sure." I agreed. I couldn't help but be grateful that she was also smiling which I hoped was a good thing.

Turning around Ms. Sparks reached for the door handle and with a nock she opened the door and walked into Kenneth's office where Kim was sitting on his couch waiting for us as she was asked.

"Good afternoon Kenneth. How are you two doing?"

"Don't give me that crap!" Shouted Kenneth.

"What do you mean Kenny?" Ms. Sparks asked sarcastically.

"Do you know how long we have been waiting for you?"

"Is that rhetorical or do you want an actual answer?" Ms. Sparks asked with some happiness in her voice I could tell she had a smile on her face I could see that Keneth wasn't in the mood.

"It was rhetorical JayJay."

"What do you want me to do about it then?"

"How about not keeping me or Kim waiting? She may be your assistant but we are both very busy workers trying to help you run your company as smoothly as possible. And being kept from our tasks does not make that easy to do remotely."

"Ok I'll keep that in mind but can we first introduce the producer that made your job excitingly easier in the first place?"

"Oh, so that's who you wanted me to see. Would that be this lovely woman beside you?"

"As a matter of fact yes." She gestured to me to shake Kenneth's hand. I walked up to him with the same smile on my face as I had all day. My heart was beginning to speed up as we shook hands and Kenneth's charm instantly turned on.

"Hello there, I'm Kenneth Smith. I'm the head of the Human Resources here." Kenneth took out his card and handed it to me. '"If anybody tries to cause you any trouble let me know." Then he looked right at Ms. Sparks.

"Hey, what are you trying to imply?" She asked.

"Nothing that isn't already obvious Sparky."

"You want me to kill you, don't you?"

"Okay well, my name's Lucy Furr," I said to cut in. I didn't want to hear the woman I'd fallen for getting into an argument over something she and I did. "It's a pleasure to meet you."

"Oh, There's something we need to discuss Jayda. It was nice to meet you Lucy but I need to speak to Ms. Spraks privately."

"Oh, alright. I'll get to my floor and get some work done before the day is over then. It was nice meeting you too."

"I'll catch you after work, Lucy." Ms. Sparks said as she winked at me.

"Okay, I'm looking forward to it."

Ms. Sparks waved at me as I left to get as much work as I could with only a couple hours of my shift left.
