Arrogant peacock, little birdie and a vicious tiger

"His Highness, the free duke apparent of the west, Leonidas!"

The chamberlain's voice, just like the stomp of Leo's cane before it, cut through the silent hall as if it were amplified by some sort of magic.

But while the same would often be found true for several other aspects of this event, there was nothing magical about this announcement. Nothing beyond the sudden silence caused by the prince's accusation, the shocked muteness of the crowd, and then the contrasting way in which Leo made his way over to his own venue.

Meanwhile, using the silence, Leo continued straight ahead, cutting through the rapidly parting crowd while showcasing his grace and elegance born out of his dignified manner of strolling with a cane. He continued to walk all the way to the very central point of the ballroom where he finally ceased his walk and turned to face the throne.
