Two-roads system

Over the course of their travels, Leo's raiding party grew to number considerably higher than before. 

What used to be a mobile unit capable of moving at a relatively quick and consistent speed turned into a heavy, immobile gathering of merchants, unruly mercenaries, and all the others who sensed the opportunity. 

That's why, rather than trying to accommodate all those folks, Duke Leonidas decided to ditch them all just before the last approach to the fortress, giving the demonic scouts something to look out for. 

With their numbers reduced to what they were always intended to be, the party moved against the fortress… 

Only to give them another thing to the avenue to worry about as their now thinned and once-again-mobile unit just… conquered the passage as if they had every right to just walk through it. 

The passage itself was way too wide yet short for anyone to try fully blocking it off or add even further defenses.
