Why you?

On hearing that, John became so silent. Since his father has been absent since the day he was born, he would not have noticed even if that were the case.

“Are you there?” After being silent for a few seconds on the phone, Kendra inquired.

"Yeah, I am," John answered, heaving aloud as if he were about to let go of a burden.

“I am so sorry I said something about your father. I did not mean to depress you; I was just sharing my story.” Kendra expressed regret.

“You didn't ruin my mood, It’s just that I long for him. I wish I could confront him right now and ask him some of the many unanswered questions that are weighing heavily on my mind. Furthermore, my grandmother told me that we resemble each other quite a bit, so that person could not have been my father.”

“I figured! I am hoping you get to meet him eventually.”

"Hopefully as well. What are you up to?”

“I’ll try to sort out one or two things immediately I drop this call and study for a while before I go to bed. You?”
