Matters to attend to

Shawn slowly opened his eyes, finding out that he was back at home, followed by the intense ringing of his alarm. Informing him that it was 5:00 am. "Better wake up and get ready before Mum comes banging on my door," he thought before rising and, with groggy steps walked to the bathroom.

After dealing with the essentials, eating, brushing, bathing, and others. He got into his school uniform and went into the car along with Stacy. As usual, Lucas had left earlier, choosing to follow the bus.

While in the car, Nick drove his kids to school, dropped them off, and went zooming off to work after Shawn got out, brought Stacy out of the vehicle, proceeding to take her to her class before he headed to his.

As he walked towards the corridor of his class, he spotted a group of boys around a certain figure. "Richard Dawson and his gang,"

This was his first thought when he looked away and decided to continue to his destination. Suddenly, the boy that he didn't want to meet came up to him.

"Hello Shawn," Richard said with a polite wave of his hand.

"Good morning" was Shawn's reply before he headed towards the classroom door.

However, before he could do that, a hand stretched out of his way and barred the door. An act done by one of Richard's minions. "Now now, why are you in a rush? ''

"I just want to collect the homework that you agreed to do for me."

"I don't think I agreed to do anything," Shawn countered with narrowed eyes as he tried to think of a way to get out of this pickle.

"Listen here, Shawn. You just have to cooperate and give him your homework." One of the other students, being a minion, dropped.

"And why can't any of you give him yours? Are you all filled with nothing but emptiness in your heads?" Shawn bit back.

He didn't like this state of being cornered and wanted to just get into the classroom.

Seeing this, Richard spoke again, "Just bring your homework and you can go or at least write the answers down."

Shawn responded in his head, "I want to get out of here. If I write the answers down for him now, eventually, he's going to keep coming back for more homework. If I give him now, he might even make me assist him during exams and tests."

With a deep breath, he looked at Richard, "Sorry I can't write the answers down"

"Why?" Richard probed, hardening his gaze. He was more like saying "What excuse do you want to give?"

"I can't remember because I accidentally dropped my homework at home and I have a good issue too."

Shawn wasn't the smartest mathematician in class but he was a good calculator and good enough to complete his homework and classwork with good scores.

"That's strange, I don't remember you ever entering the principal or staff's office or being told that you've never done your homework by the teacher," Richard said, looking at him intently.

"The heck this guy is quite an observer. Isn't he supposed to be like those brainless ones? You just had to make yourself a good student in school. Why can't your game personality just show and affect the good student image that was emboldened into you."

Shawn looked at Richard again and spoke, "New things happen every day aren't you aware of that?"

Richard continued staring at Shawn before turning to his minion, "Let him go"

"Phew," Shawn sighed in his mind before he walked and entered the class.

"I need to get this guy off my back. It's a good thing that we do not have math today. Seems like he didn't know that though." Shawn sat in his seat and dropped his bag while placing his books into his locker.

After that moment passed, a loud ringing noise alerted the students inside. "It's time for assembly. I better head to the hall." The Young teenager rose and left the classroom, but instead of the left door, he went to the other door at the right. He didn't want to encounter that gang again.

He left the classroom and entered a large building that was painted in blue and white colours. Upon entering, he spotted the sight of many people who entered before him gathering and huddling together.

The students all filled up in long columns, each being different from the other depending on the class you were in as well as Gender.

Shawn went to his class line of the boys and stood at the back. He was 1:72 meters tall. And in his class, he was a bit taller than some of the boys but not as tall as the rest.

The assembly started with prayer and some other activities, announcements passed by the teachers, some pep talks on a moral topic, and the marching of students back to their classrooms.

Then the first class began after everyone returned to their respective seats. Shawn's friends Charles, Harry, and Stephanie lay beside him. This was how his gang operated. They stood close to each other to keep an eye out and to just play most of the time.

The teacher for today was known as Mr Tom. Mr Tom was a man around the age of the elderly seemingly close to retirement. He walked into the class and was greeted. The subject he taught to the students was English.

Most of them loved his class because he had a sense of humor when it came to teaching the subject and always made sure that you were rewarded for your hard work whenever you completed your assignments, e.g., essays, articles, debates, and so on.

Regardless, not everyone can have the same opinion about one person. Only the majority will crowd the views of the minority into the drain. The class that Shawn was in was known as class A2 for the students, and there were 29 students allocated there.

Classes started at 8:30 am and ended at 14:30. There were three breaks, each of 10,15, and 25 minutes in between the classes, with each of them being 40 minutes long.

"Alright, everyone. We have come to the end of today's class. Your homework is to write about how civilization has progressed and how the progress has influenced society. No less than 1,200 words and to be submitted on Thursday." said Mr Tom, once he began packing the books on his table.

"Sir!" a student shouted with an upraised hand.

"Alright, lazy bones. 900 words and submitted on Friday" said Tom as he took the books and was about to leave.

"Let me help you with that Sir," Shawn appeared in front of the man and took the books from his hands. "Thank you, Shawn. You have good manners," said Tom as he walked on to the door with Shawn carrying the books for him.

When he entered Mr. Tom's desk in the staff room, he was surprised to see the huge amounts of books on the English teacher's desk.

"Shocked? Well, I'm almost or perhaps already an old man, and I'm not used to using the gadgets of today, so I have no other choice but to read books. Even on my phone I still read books."

"Well, what can I expect from our English and Literature teacher? No wonder you have a lot of grammar capable of blowing the trees away."

"Who taught you how to flatter people?" The Old man laughed.

"I learned it," Shawn replied.

"Well, you're terrible at it. Now carry those legs of yours and march to class" He said, waving off the boy.

"Alright Alright," said Shawn as he walked towards the door and left the staff room.

When he returned to class. Everyone was planning to go to the library since it was next on the timetable for two classes. After all, phones were not allowed.

But of course, not everyone wanted to go, and some decided to hide in the classroom or go somewhere else.

Meanwhile, Shawn, Harry, Charles, and Stephanie took their books, not caring about the opinions of others as they marched there. According to their plans, they could research more on the homework given to them or just read ordinary books before the class, which was after the break, which came after the library.

Shawn and his group sat together before going out to look for books on the shelves. While Shawn made his way to a nearby shelf, searching for tags, he managed to stumble upon some books that contained a lot of content that was about history.

However, that was not what he found that made him so excited. He found a book that was titled "The Evolution Of Man From Ancient Times."

He could read the book and find some important facts and points that would be very useful in his writing.

He could also discover something that could be useful for the world of Ornio and implement it. He had found a solution to the problem that could give him a headache after all. His phone had been seized, and his PC, well...

The others could ignore the problem because they could use their phones when they got home anyway.
