Some of the neighbors came over to greet and sat on another side of the tree’s shade.
It was clear to Jacqueline that the neighbors shared a close bond with one another, because Adam’s uncle spoke openly about family matters, which she would have thought were too personal.
Adam took the trouble to elaborate about certain matters which his uncle was discussing, so that Jacqueline would be in the picture and not feel left out.
They were served soft drinks and Jacqueline decided that she would take a look around the neighborhood with one of the young girls afterwards.
In that way she would gain something more out of the experience of visiting the village.
One of the teenage girls, Adam’s cousin, was very willing to take Jacqueline for a walk down to a nearby river. Adam voiced his concern about Jacqueline’s safety, but his uncle just laughed it off as a silly sentiment, because the village was very safe during the daytime.
