Laura decided to take her mind off the subject of haunting entirely. The encroaching darkness outside her window seemed to magnify her fears, casting long shadows that danced menacingly on the walls of her room. She could feel her heart racing, the sound of her own rapid breathing filling her ears.
"It's getting dark," she whispered to herself, her voice trembling slightly. "Let me forget about haunting because those things are connected to the dark." With a determined sigh, she closed the bedroom window, shutting out the ominous twilight. The latch clicked into place with a finality that made her jump.
