Chapter 28: Your mother won’t be able to walk

" Your mother is awake !" She got the news.

Trina's eyes widened in shock as she listened to Doctor Smith's words on the phone.

She had been waiting for this moment for what felt like an eternity - eight long months of uncertainty and worry.

"Doctor Smith, oh my goodness, is she... is she okay?" Trina asked, her voice trembling with emotion.

"Yes, Trina, your mother is finally awake and conscious," Doctor Smith replied.

"She's still a bit weak and disoriented, but she's showing signs of improvement. We're cautiously optimistic about her recovery."

Trina felt a wave of relief wash over her, followed by a surge of excitement and gratitude. She couldn't wait to see her mother and hug her tightly.

"Thank you, Doctor Smith," Trina said, her voice filled with emotion. "I'll be right there to see her."

Trina quickly ended the call and rushed out of her restaurant, her heart racing with excitement and anticipation.

She couldn't wait to be reunited with her mother and start this new chapter in their lives.

Trina's car parked before the hospital and without a second she was already out running to her mother's room.

When she opened the door her mother lied there on the bed as usual but the difference today Meble's eyes were open.

Trina's eyes welled up with tears as she rushed to her mother's bedside, embracing her warmly.

Meble's eyes, though weak, sparkled with recognition as she gazed at her daughter.

"Mom, oh mom, I'm so glad you're awake," Trina exclaimed, her voice trembling with emotion.

At first Meble's gaze just remained on Trina.

" Mom, It's me your daughter. Do you remember me ?" Trina asked impatiently.

Meble's lips curved into a gentle smile as she reached out a frail hand to touch Trina's face.

"My dear Trina, I could never forget you," she whispered, her voice barely audible.

Trina's heart swelled with joy and relief, knowing that her mother's memories were intact.

She held her mother's hand tightly, feeling a deep sense of gratitude and love.

"I was so scared, mom," Trina confessed, tears streaming down her face. "I thought I was going to lose you."

Meble's eyes filled with tears as she looked at her daughter, her expression filled with love and regret.

"I'm sorry, Trina," she whispered. "I'm sorry I put you through this."

" It's okay Mom.." Trina said tears of joy escaping from her face.

Meble smiled and decided to get up to give her daughter a hug.

But her face contorted in a mixture of confusion and panic as she tried to lift herself up from the bed, her arms outstretched to hug Trina.

As she attempted to move, she realized that she couldn't feel her legs. They felt heavy, numb, and unresponsive.

" Mom, What's wrong ?" Trina asked after noticing her mother's struggle.

Meble's eyes widened in horror as she looked at Trina, tears streaming down her face.

"Trina, I... I can't feel my legs," she stammered, her voice shaking with fear.

Trina's face fell as she rushed to her mother's side, alarm etched on her features.

"Mom, don't worry, I'll get the doctor," she said, quickly grabbing the call button.

The doctor rushed in, concern etched on his face. After a quick examination, he delivered the devastating news.

" Meble will not be able to walk for a while."

" What ?" Trina asked in disbelief while Meble's eyes became wet in disbelief.

Her face crumpled as she burst into tears, her body shaking with sobs.

Trina saw her and wrapped her arms around her mother, holding her close as she whispered words of comfort.

"Don't worry, mom," Trina said, her voice filled with determination.

"I'll take care of you. I'll be here for you every step of the way."

Trina held Meble while Meble cried bitterly not believing that she was now crippled.

As Meble continued to sob in Trles's arms, Ryan quietly entered the room, her eyes scanning the scene before her.

Meble's eyes, red-rimmed from crying, suddenly locked onto Ryan's face, and a look of recognition dawned on her features.

"Mrs. Walter," Meble whispered, her voice shaking with emotion.

Trina looked up and on seeing Ryan she released her mother and dried off her own tears.

Ryan smiled and sat on the bedside chair.

" Meble, You remember me ?" She asked.

"I remember you... you're the one Trina donated blood to."

Ryan's expression softened as she smiled warmly at Meble.

"Yes, that's right," she said, her voice gentle. "Trina was very kind to me during a difficult time."

" How are you feeling ?" Ryan asked.

Meble sobbed again and Trina stepped forward.

Trina filled her in on the doctor's diagnosis, her voice laced with concern.

"Mom's not going to be able to walk for a while..."

Ryan's face softened even further as she nodded reassuringly.

"Don't worry, Trina. Don't worry, Meble. I'm here for you both. I'll support you in any way I can."

Trina's eyes welled up with gratitude as she looked at Ryan. "Thank you … That means a lot to us."

Meble, still tearful, smiled weakly at Ryan. "Thank you, Mrs. Walter. Your kindness means everything to us."

Ryan just smiled and then got up.

" Let me go order some food for you, Meble. You must be starving."

Trina nodded in agreement. "That's a great idea, Thank you."

Ryan smiled warmly at them before turning to walk out of the room.

"I'll be right back," she said, her voice fading as she disappeared into the hallway.

When Ryan had disappeared, Meble finally noticed the changes in Trina's looks.

Trina's skin looked radiant, her hair was styled perfectly, and her clothes seemed to be of the finest quality and so expensive . The elegant earrings and refined makeup only added to her polished look. She looked so beautiful and like someone norble.

Meble's eyes narrowed slightly as she asked, "Trina, how long have I been here ?"

Trina's expression turned somber as she replied, "Nine months, mom."

Meble's eyes went wide with shock. "Nine months? Oh, Trina, how did you manage? How did you pay the bills and take care of me?"

Trina's face softened as she thought back on the past few months. "Ryan took care of everything, mom. She was a lifesaver."

Meble's eyes narrowed slightly. "Ryan? You mean Mrs. Walter?"

Trina nodded. "Yes, mom. She's done everything for us."

Meble's eyes widened in surprise. " Oh my, Trina..she's been so good to us."

Trina smiled. "Ryan helped us upgrade, mom. We're doing really well now."

" Look, I even own a big restaurant. I am rich." She said.
