The weeks that followed were a tumultuous blend of terror and anxiousness. By day, I endured a waking nightmare devoid of Keegan's presence, and by night, I sought refuge in my dreams with Drex. At work, Keegan avoided me completely, his absence a constant reminder of the pain I had caused. He refused to talk to me or even be in the same room, his cold indifference cutting deep. I didn't blame him; he had loved me, and I had shattered his heart. I thought about apologizing, perhaps giving him more time, but the words never seemed adequate.
