Chapter 20: Marriage?

His father and grandparents didn't give it much thought and just nodded. His grandfather produced another jade slip out of his storage ring and copied the contents of the spirit halberd technique. Pondering it occasionally may give him much-needed insights and epiphany. After they had finished looking through all the jade slips, the sun was on the verge of just touching the peak of the mountain top at Bareback Mountain. Amrit looked outside and saw the most astonishing scene. The sky was painted golden yellow and the little pond reflected it perfectly like a mirror. Some fishes jumped now and then creating ripples in the perfectly still pond. The ripples made the pond like liquid gold swaying in concentric circles. The ever-fresh-looking grass field was now looking golden with some flowers and bushes popping here and there. There were multicolored butterflies before but now they were also painted in golden hue. Even when everything was golden it was not overly golden, it was bizarrely beautiful. There was no oddity or something that stood out, everything was where it was supposed to be. Even the jumping fishes felt like they were supposed to jump at that exact time. There was a strange and natural charm to it. It was as if everything came out of a stroke of master painter. Looking at this scene Amrit could not help but forget about his almost depleted spirit power. Out of nowhere a strange sense of determination came onto him. A determination to protect this very scene with whatever it takes.

As he was reeling in his world, his elders looked at him and let it be. They had already experienced this scene and knew how enchanting it was. After some time Amrit woke up from his reverie and found three faces staring at him. He thought they would ask more about his inheritance and cultivation technique seeing the martial technique was at spirit grade. However, to his surprise, they just asked whether to put all the inheritances in skill pavilion. He thought for a moment and said "Let's do what benefits the clan in short time. If we can maximize our strength in a short period of time we can reveal other inheritances which can bring immediate danger." He said what everyone had thought. The elders looked at him and nodded. "Then let's put the inheritances up to second grade high tier and remove what may seem little unorthodox. So let's put beast taming and some of the parts of other inheritances on hold. Even if we put beast taming, it's hard to find great heard of horses at short notice." His grandfather said. They nodded at this suggestion. It was the most optimal and beneficial one. His father then asked, "What about the spirit halberd technique." Everyone looked at Amrit. Although the martial technique was great revealing it to clan members may not pan out greatly. Amrit replied "I think if the three of you and mother practice this for now it will be enough. Rather than revealing this to family, you can just add insights to our existing sword technique."

They thought for a moment and nodded. Revealing everything at once is not good. And his family were the top combat power of the clan, so it was okay for them to practice. Giving it to members with low cultivation level will not be beneficial to the clan. Since only they knew about the technique, it will not leak outside and cause immediate headaches for the clan. Seeing everything was clear among them about the decision, his father stood up and gathered the engraved jade slips. He then picked two blank jade slips and began copying the inheritance of alchemy and array for up to second grade high tier leaving the original two for supreme elders. Checking everything was right he bowed his head towards his parents and left for the skill pavilion.

Amrit also stood and bowed towards his grandparents preparing to leave with his father, at this moment his grandmother called to him "Stay here tonight with us, it's been years since we have seen you. I will prepare dinner." Saying this she got up and left for the kitchen. Like his parent's house, his grandparent's house was also simple. Even though the outside looked like paradise inside was simple and rustic. Everything was made of wood, enforced with arrays. This house had been centuries old, his grandparents inherited it from the previous supreme elder. At that time there was only one supreme elder, his grandfather's grandfather who was at half step Golden Core Formation realm. There were plenty of people at the late stage of the Foundation Building realm at that time. Even though this house had stood for centuries, there was no trace of wear or even a tear. The amazing thing was that even though everything was covered with arrays, there was no cleaning array. His grandparents did cleaning and cooking like mortals. Although at their realm eating once can sustain for half a month and there were fasting pills, they still cooked and cleaned whenever they had time.

After his grandmother left, his grandfather turned to him and said, "Alright, you are now fifteen years old. Do you have any girls you fancy? I can talk to your father and arrange a marriage for you." He looked at his grandfather with a dumbfounded expression, wanting to reply, but his grandpa interrupted him, saying, "Why are you looking at me with that dumb face? Just because your father and I got lucky and met the love of our lives doesn't mean you will too. I just want to see a great-grandchild." Hearing this, he didn't know how to respond. Marriage was the last thing on his mind. He didn't even have time to mourn for his past relationship on Earth. What's more, he expected this question from his grandmother, not his stoic and serious grandfather. Seemingly understanding the emotions on his face, his grandfather said, "What? Your grandmother told me to ask for your opinion. And people your age are getting married in the clan." Ah, he understood. Foundation Building cultivators can communicate with divine sense. His grandmother was probably spying on them with her divine sense right now.
