Chapter 40: Memories (3)

 

Her eyes slowly opened, revealing a blue ceiling. A damp towel covered the forehead of a pale face. Selene's eyes slid to the side; a woman sat to her right with her eyes closed. 

"Irmin..." she weakly called. 

Even the faint voice was enough to wake the woman. 

"You're awake," Irmin approached, her large hand gently stroking Selene's hair. 

"What happened?" 

"It's alright, we made it..." 

"Ah... that's so good... we finally made it..." The conjurer spoke with great difficulty, quickly losing her breath and taking deep breaths between sentences. "But... why don't you seem so happy..." 

"They will call you for the selection as soon as you're well enough," she continued. "With the facilities here, it shouldn't take long." 

"Irmin..." 

"I'm sure you'll join a good faction; you're talented." 

"Irmin!" 

"Why did you lie to me!?"
