Chapter 143: Players 3

Somewhere in the infinite void, a huge golden tower with a gigantic golden sun on its surface floated peacefully.

This was the Light Tower.

On one of the highest floors, where only high-ranking Players could enter, a man who was having a leisurely meal in a fancy restaurant suddenly received a message.

Opening his personal panel, he entered the message section and quickly read its contents.

With mild surprise and some skepticism, he closed the message section and entered the virtual marketplace.

He quickly typed in what he was interested in and found the result immediately.

"This is..."

The man stood up suddenly, leaving his half-eaten plate behind and heading for the teleportation area.

Each of the floors of the Light tower was huge and could only be traveled between by authorized teleportation.

The man quickly reached the teleportation site and entered a booth, pressing a button with the number one inscribed on it.

He appeared on the lowest floor of the tower, where the rookies resided.

After half an hour of wandering around, the man returned to the teleportation area and climbed up to the upper floors.

With a resigned look on his face, he entered a room.

The whole place was filled with glass containers with all sorts of specimens.

"To what do we owe this visit, Droy?"

A bald man with gold-rimmed glasses looked away from a heart still beating inside a container and looked at the intruder who had just entered his laboratory.

Droy swallowed the urge to vomit and focused on the man, deciding not to look at the disgusting things he had on display.

"I need to ask you something."

"Oh? And what could one of the biggest Players in the tower possibly need from my humble self?"

The bald man rubbed his chin and asked sarcastically.

"I need a Xenomorph egg and some Kryptonian genetic material plus three different types of X-Men genetic materials."

The bald man arched an eyebrow with interest.

"I don't think a muscle head like you has suddenly become interested enough in genetic study to ask me for this stuff."

"Ragash, just give me what I ask and I'll return the favor."

Ragash patted his cheek for a while as he thought before finally sighing.

"I give up, if I don't give them to you now who knows what might happen to my fragile self? Maybe I'll end up mysteriously dead."

Droy ignored Ragash's insinuations, knowing this was his personality.

Ragash pulled a strange egg out of storage and then walked over to a small vial with blood on its insides.

He wiggled the vial for a moment, making sure it was still fresh, before pulling out a case with a large number of small vials inside.

They contained blood, hair or tissue.

On each vial a different name could be read such as Charles Xavier, Magneto, Wolverine and more.

Selecting three vials at random, he placed them next to the vial with Kryptonian blood and handed them to Droy.

"Here, but in return I want you to get me some exotic creature when you return from your next trip."

"Sure."

Droy put the items away and left Ragash's lab in a hurry.

After a couple more trips through the lower and middle floors, he finally got everything he needed.

Sitting alone in his room, Droy hit the swap button.

The items stored in his inventory along with five million points disappeared and in their place appeared a giant sword.

Droy inspected the sword with a wide grin.

"Haha! This is definitely a real bargain!"

He bought the sword at half the value of a common SSS rank weapon.

"I wonder who the guy is that sold something so valuable just like that?"

...

"Boss! Here are your items!"

Sato looked ecstatically at the five million points that suddenly appeared in his account and excitedly took out the items.

Noah looked them all over carefully.

A strange looking green egg, a vial of blood, three vials with different fabrics, two oddly shaped fruits, a blue spider lily stored in a special vial, a pokeball with a Ditto inside, and a vial of V-compound.

"Okay, that's all in order."

Noah put the items away and a black sword stuck at Sato's feet.

"Good. Young friend, it's been a pleasure doing business with you."

Sato's body suddenly twisted and disappeared from the spot along with the celestial demonic sword, reappearing where it was originally.

"..."

"I guess I'll stay here for the rest of the day."

Sato put away the heavenly demonic sword for the time being, deciding to take a day off in this world.

...

Within an undetectable dimension inside the Light Tower, a throne angel-like being floated amidst countless monitoring screens that stretched as far as the eye could see.

The throne angel's body consisted of four giant wheels, two outer and two inner, covered by countless eyes of different types and colors.

In the center of the wheels hovered a huge sky-blue eye staring into an area where nearly a hundred monitoring screens displayed a single scene.

A divine being wielding a long Odachi faced the hundred rank 10 Players in front of him.

Sephiroth, in his divine form known as Safer-Sephiroth, towered over his enemies like an executioner about to reap their lives.

Thanks to the carelessness of a mid-ranked player who entered the Final Fantasy 7 universe with too high a profile, Sephiroth took notice of him and subsequently took an interest in him.

After capturing and torturing Tifa, that Player's new lover, Sephiroth got the other party to agree to take him to another universe.

The Player of the Light Tower, resentful, decided to open a portal directly to the hell of the Devil May Cry universe, thinking that this would cause Sephiroth's death.

This was a grave mistake since Sephiroth, with his already immense power, did nothing but increase in power within that hell, consuming the essence of high-ranking demons and increasing his power to the level that allowed him to travel through the multiverse of that world.

Thus, Sephiroth wandered from universe to universe, consuming both angels and demons, causing chaos in the Devil May Cry multiverse.

Sensing him as a threat and a possible candidate for Omniversal Traveler, this angel of the throne known as Azathel, in charge of monitoring the Players and making sure nothing goes wrong, decided to set a mission to destroy Sephiroth.

The one hundred Players currently facing Sephiroth were one hundred of the most powerful in the Light Tower, with multiversal levels of power.

A potential Omniversal Traveler candidate who was unchecked was a great danger to both the Light Tower and its rival, the Dark Palace.

After all, it was the fault of two Omniversal Travelers, the creators of the two organizations respectively, who caused a war that nearly destroyed the entire Omniverse.

Just the thought of that apocalyptic war made Azathel, a being who could destroy a multiverse with a snap of his fingers, shudder with fear.

Suddenly, an alarm sounded and a monitoring screen lit up red.

The huge angel on the throne narrowed one of his countless eyes, which looked at the alert that appeared in front of him.

"How can a novice who has barely traveled to his fourth world obtain an SSS rank item from a world he doesn't have the qualifications to enter?"

Sato's information and the contents of the transaction he made to sell Lævatein appeared in front of the angel on the throne.

Recordings were even shown of his interaction with the puppet sent by Noah.

"This needs to be investigated....

Tsk! If it weren't for the fact that all the universal level Players and above have been sent to fight Sephiroth, I would have sent one of them to take care of this matter.

Sigh...looks like I can only entrust this problem to those galactic-ranked Players."

After issuing a special mission to have the matter regarding Noah investigated, Azathel turned his full attention back to Sephiroth, who began to fight the Players around him.

Raising his Odachi high in the air, Sephiroth gathered a vast amount of unimaginable demonic energy and with a single slash, caused a third of the enemy Players to be reduced to dust.

"Tsk! That guy has already reached the multiversal rank."

After a moment of deliberation, Azathel sighed resignedly.

One of the eyes on the surface of one of the two inner wheels detached and floated toward one of the monitoring screens showing Sephiroth slaughtering the Players.

As it approached the screen, the eye began to change, a cocoon of golden light forming around it.

The cocoon pierced the screen as if it were a membrane and in an instant, it reached the battlefield.

With a snap, the cocoon cracked and two pristine hands emerged from the crack, exerting force and splitting the cocoon in two.

A dazzling eleven-winged male angel, with a distinctive giant golden vertical eye on his chest, appeared in front of the Players and stopped Sephiroth's slash with one hand.

Sephiroth narrowed his eyes and his expression became dignified.

A battle that was destined to destroy this multiverse was about to take place.

Azathel looked at the angel on the screen and sighed in resignation.

Imprisoned in this place, forced to oversee the Light Tower, was not something he liked.

He could only do his master's bidding and wait until his master awoke from his slumber to release him from this job.

At first he thought it would be a great opportunity and a great honor to serve in this job but the limitations imposed on him made him feel very bitter.

All the energy collected by the Light Tower was used to feed his sleeping master and consequently, he had no method to increase or replenish his energy reserves.

The only thing he could do was to gather energy from the void but doing so was too slow for a being of his level.

He had just expended a lot of energy in creating that multiversal level clone and although the expenditure was not much for a being like him, it should be noted that it had barely been ten years since the Light Tower began operating and if similar incidents continued to occur, his strength would inevitably dwindle.

"Sigh, there's nothing I can do, let's work hard for the time being.

Once the lord awakens and sees my efforts, he will surely reward me handsomely."
