Chapter 56- The Power Of Her Prey

How does one perceive danger?

To Polly, perceiving danger often involves a chilling combination of sensory and psychological cues. It might have been an imperceptible sound, a sudden change in the air, or the inexplicable feeling of being watched. However, she felt all three at once, and that sent a frightening chill down her spine, making her hairs stand on end.

Instinctively, she turned to face whatever threat was lurking behind her, her heart pounding violently in her chest. Polly's pupils constricted at the sight of a large serpent that remained coiled against one of the pillars. With a trembling hand, she pointed her phone's flashlight at the face, only to be met with a pair of flaming red eyes watching her like she was the prey.
