Chapter 81 Sherman Is In Danger

Elaine was ensconced in Sherman's arms, a once-ordinary moment that now felt remarkably unusual.

She extricated herself from his embrace with alacrity, dabbing her tears with the back of her hand, determined not to appear too vulnerable.

Her forgiveness for Sherman was cursory; she required more time to come to terms with her own emotions.

Having been deeply hurt in the past, she couldn't help but wonder whether Sherman's words were sincere or not, even after she had calmed down. She could no longer afford to make the same mistake twice.

When Sherman vanished from view, Elaine didn't attempt to follow him. Yet, when he placed the watch back on her wrist, she didn't refuse.

As he turned his back and smiled at her, she opened her mouth to say something, but the distance was too great to hear him properly. However, from the shape of his mouth, she could guess his words: "I'll see you tonight."
