Yvette's POV
Why did everyone think I was lying?
"I'm not making up stories. Please come save me," I pleaded.
"Whatever," Gerald said testily. "Leave me alone, okay? Violet is my mate, not you."
My heart sank.
I kept trying to sweeten Black up because I wanted to stay alive and see Gerald.
Yet his words shattered my last glimmer of hope.
A deep sense of despair overwhelmed me.
I thought at least he wouldn't watch me die.
Turned out it was all my wishful thinking.
"Is that all? I gotta patrol the pack," said Gerald.
"Do you still not remember who I am?"
I felt like I should ask him one last time.
"Yvette, it's getting boring, don't you think?" Gerald asked icily, his tone full of disgust.
When I was about to hang up, I hesitated.
This was my last phone call before death, after all.
So I clenched the receiver and said slowly, "Gerald, listen. I've tried every possible means. If one day you remember me, please..."
