Dream Plane

Lin Feng sat upright across from Raven 12345, waiting for her to enlighten him. Initially, he had not expected her to be so forthcoming with information. In his impression, Raven 12345 had always been strong-willed and somewhat solipsistic. This impression had solidified since the day she had forcibly recruited him, but now it seemed... she was not entirely lacking in empathy.

"This world is more complex than you think." Raven 12345 sat unceremoniously on her desk, exuding an aura of a mafia boss. "There are races you have never heard of, another society you are unaware of, and even another space you know nothing about—most humans are oblivious to these, but a very small number of individuals with special talents may come into contact with them, which we call the Dream Plane."

Lin Feng instinctively swallowed, feeling a subtle pressure from Raven 12345's serious expression.

"Of course, I only recently decided to call it the Dream Plane. Previously, I called it the Illusory Space, then the Mirror World, Phantom Universe... Well, it used to be called the Second Realm." Raven 12345 scratched her head, her serious demeanor suddenly gone. "Anyway, it's a unique phenomenon in this universe. You can call it whatever you want; for now, let's stick with the Dream Plane. I'll come up with a better name in a few days."

Lin Feng had begun to adapt to the eccentric rhythm of this strange woman. Suppressing the urge to comment, he asked, "What exactly is the Dream Plane? A parallel space? I'm familiar with that theory..."

"No, it's more complex than that." Raven 12345 shook her head. "The Dream Plane is a special form of information structure in this universe. It's somewhat similar to a parallel space, but more illusory and unstable. The Dream Plane overlaps with this universe. While the latter is real, stable, and follows rules, the Dream Plane is illusory, volatile, and lawless. When the real world operates normally according to universal rules, the Dream Plane changes along with it, like a dream following reality. However, the mapping relationship between them is chaotic, so these changes are basically imperceptible. It's good enough for you to have a basic understanding of these theoretical matters. Most humans don't understand this. Just remember one thing: the Dream Plane is a place superimposed on the real world, very unstable, but almost never intersects with the real world. It contains landscapes, flora, fauna, and possibly intelligent life, but everything is chaotic. Before you have enough experience... it's best not to venture there."

"Who would want to touch that thing!" Lin Feng shrank back. "I would probably be surrounded by dozens of wolves as big as two circles if I fell in, right? You said the Dream Plane doesn't intersect with the real world, so what's going on with me?"

"I've already mentioned, individuals with special talents will come into contact with it." Raven 12345 pointed at Lin Feng's forehead. "Through dreams. This world is an informational state; everything is a manifestation of information. Temperature, size, mass, etc., all stack up as information, making things describable and perceptible, thus creating everything. This is the most basic form of the Information Unity Theory. Oh, this theory is actually more complex, but this is enough for you to understand—just know that, due to the existence of the Information Unity, things in the Dream Plane can be guided into the real world, with dreams as the medium. That's why I recently named it the Dream Plane. Throughout human history, there have been some individuals who could connect to the Dream Plane. Most of them were short-lived, easily killed by the distorted things in the Dream Plane. But their brief lives would bring endless troubles to the real world... plagues, floods, and other troublesome things. Almost eighty to ninety percent of what they brought back from the Dream Plane was harmful to the real world."

Lin Feng listened, feeling a cold sweat. He had never imagined that such a familiar world could have such a side—just a few days ago, he had complained that the world was too boring, and now he didn't think so at all. On the contrary, the world suddenly became a bit too exciting!

"So, does that mean I have a talent?" Lin Feng didn't know whether to laugh or cry, so he pointed to his nose. "You made the Dream Plane sound so dangerous, like someone could die accidentally... Do you have any solutions?"

"Talent? You didn't have this talent originally." Raven 12345 grinned. "Don't overthink it. You're just an ordinary person, but contact with me has influenced you with informational disturbance force. This influence can gradually make you different from others. The initial change will make you more likely to encounter extraordinary things, which will also facilitate your future work. But don't worry—you're not going to end up like those unlucky souls who died in the Dream Plane. None of the poor souls who died there had any backing. None of them were employees of our bureau. They could only endure for so long on their own. You're different; you have credentials. This is called being authorized to cross—I'll try my best to pull you out every time you're about to die..."

Lin Feng sweated on his forehead: "..."

"Now that you know about the Dream Plane, I doubt you can understand much from my abstract explanations. You need more exposure to these things. When the time is right, you'll have plenty of opportunities to explore that place." Raven 12345 jumped off the desk, patting Lin Feng's shoulder comfortingly, almost knocking him into the ground. "As for nightmares and such, you haven't encountered them in the past few days, right? This indicates that the balance between you and the Dream Plane has been restored. An individual from the real world wouldn't normally fall into nightmares easily."

Rubbing his shoulder awkwardly, Lin Feng finally remembered something he wanted to ask: "By the way, do you know about Witchers?"

From Vivian, Lin Feng had learned about the millennia-long grudges between Witchers and Abnormals, as well as the historical origins between Abnormals and humans: the numerous but weak humans, the powerful but rare and scattered Abnormals, and the mysterious Witchers, who were of unknown origin and stood between humans and Abnormals. These three had once been equally active roles on the Earth's stage, but now humans had taken control of the planet, Abnormals had been marginalized to an extreme extent, and even the Witchers were lurking in human society. The previous three-way power struggle had turned into human dominance, and under this situation, everything seemed calm—yet Lin Feng knew that this calm was only superficial. Behind the scenes, Witchers and Abnormals were tacitly maintaining the world's surface stability.

Witchers were still roaming this world, these seemingly ordinary but powerful warriors were still hunting Abnormals to this day. Unfortunately, Lin Feng's family raised two of these Abnormals—he urgently wanted to know what attitude Raven 12345, this self-proclaimed goddess, would have towards this situation.

In other words: how did the Hesperian Divine System and the Temporal Management Bureau view the various races on Earth? Which side were they on?

Lin Feng had thought about a lot, but Raven 123

45 just waved her hand casually, "I know, but I don't care. They haven't found you yet, have they? We'll talk when they do."

Lin Feng thought for a moment, realizing he couldn't beat the white-haired witch in front of him. So, he obediently sat back in his chair, hands folded, and a sincere expression on his face, "There's one last question: as a weak Earthling, you want me to deal with those superhumans. It's fine with Vivian and Muyun's good temper, but if they had a bad temper... You have to give me some ability to protect myself, right? Let's make a deal, give me two hundred years of cultivation!"

Lin Feng didn't really expect Raven 12345 to nod vigorously and then transmit the Asura's God Palm to him.

But Raven 12345 slapped her head, "Hey, you didn't remind me! New employee reinforcement, I thought something was missing... Luckily, I remembered this before sending you to the battlefield!"

Lin Feng: "..."

If he died an untimely death one day, it would definitely be because of this absent-minded, thoughtless, and crazy superior who had no brains!
