The clashing sound of metal armor continued to echo from all directions in the winding and enclosed underground passage, making it impossible to determine the enemies' positions and numbers. Lin Feng and his companions were constantly retreating under the pursuit of numerous undead knights. They had been running for over ten minutes in this astonishingly large underground passage, yet they had not seen any exit leading to the surface. If it weren't for the data terminal's assurance that they were on the right path, Lin Feng would have thought he might be trapped in this place.
Humans are strange creatures. Sometimes, the weak leave people speechless, but some can erupt with endless power in desperate situations. Lin Feng felt that "endless" was a bit exaggerated, as he was panting like a grandson after all the running. However, he did display more courage and brute strength than usual in this dire situation. Normally just a peaceful civilian, he now faced hordes of undead charging at him without fear, showing a bit of a "fighting spirit." Although the undead carried swords, most likely due to just awakening, they moved slowly and weren't very bright, only knowing to run forward with their weapons raised, seemingly forgetting how to use them. Lin Feng, with his agile movements, could still kick the tin cans next to him away, suffering only from aching legs and no serious injuries.
He felt his fighting spirit was unprecedented, but obviously, he couldn't compare to the true powerhouse in the team: Muyun. Relying on her true brute strength, she charged at the forefront of the trio, still waving the "war hammer" from the beginning. It was unknown how unlucky the undead knight was. Just awakened and not yet aware of the current year, it was smashed by Muyun from the burial chamber to the passage, then from the passage to the next burial chamber. Back and forth, smashing over a hundred tin cans, which were now in a sorry state, like a pile of flattened scrap metal, long silent and motionless...
"How much farther is it?!" Vivian was the most elegant and least stressed of the three. Her combat experience as a high-ranking vampire and her variety of blood magic finally showed when facing a group of mobs. Flying close to the ceiling of the underground passage, she used a continuous stream of cold shockwaves and blood-colored blades to kill enemies several meters away (further was uncontrollable and could easily collapse the entire underground passage), leaving behind countless enemies cut into pieces or frozen into ice slag, as well as deep marks on the walls of the underground passage. However, like Lin Feng, she felt frustrated because this environment made her feel like she couldn't fully unleash her abilities. "Is your radar reliable? Fighting like this is so stifling; I can only fly a meter... Oops, hit my head again!"
All the injuries Vivian had suffered so far were from flying too high and hitting the ceiling.
"We're only halfway there!" Lin Feng was frustrated. "We rushed too fast and took a wrong turn at a junction just now. Now we have to go straight through the middle of the underground passage. Muyun, it's up to you to watch the direction!"
However, the only response Lin Feng received was a vague roar. After fighting continuously for so long, Muyun seemed to be getting a bit bloodthirsty.
"Will she lose her mind?" Lin Feng was somewhat worried when he saw Muyun's condition. "Werewolves seem to go mad easily."
"Don't worry, I saw her take out a loaf of bread from her pocket and eat it while running. Just that makes her unlikely to go berserk."
The passage led to another hall, and Lin Feng prayed it wasn't another burial chamber. As they charged in, they found it empty, devoid of wandering undead knights or chilling coffins strewn across the floor.
"Seal off the passage!" Lin Feng dodged a heavy shield knight charging at him and leaped... well, more like tumbled into the hall, then shouted to Vivian, who was flying in the air, "How far do we have to go?!"
Vivian, already preparing a powerful spell, dispersed her body into a large group of bats, which then split into two groups, forming two conical vortices in the air. The tips of the cones aimed at the entrance of the passage, and with a piercing tearing sound, bright blue electric lights quickly gathered in front of the two cones. After two seconds of charging, the two groups of bats flew towards the stone door of the hall. There was a thunderous sound, and the entire door along with the back half of the passage collapsed under the impact, akin to natural lightning.
The explosion resounded throughout the hall and even the entire underground, with countless grains of sand and stones falling from the ceiling. Lin Feng, covering his head, yelled, "Is this place going to collapse?!"
Vivian's voice came from all directions, "Don't worry, I'm controlling the force!"
The bats that were scattered by the explosion quickly reassembled into Vivian's form. She jumped down from the air, looking pleased. "Finally found a spacious place to unleash my skills. Wasn't that impressive just now? Ever since I consulted Faraday, I've turned this lightning strike into two electrodes..."
Lin Feng, although surprised by the spectacle, noticed that it had become too quiet around them. "Strange, there seem to be no enemies ahead?"
The entire hall was quiet, without the grinding sound of armor that had been haunting them.
