Kidnapping?

Lin Feng and Vivian waited until noon but saw no sign of Muyun. That girl was quite punctual—especially when it came to meal times. As a husky, she wouldn't leave any chance for others to steal her food, so she usually headed home an hour before mealtime. Today, she had even promised to be home before noon, so her delay puzzled Lin Feng.

"This is the first time she's been late for a meal," Vivian said, placing the food on the table and looking strangely towards the door. "Is something holding her up?"

"I'll give her a call," Lin Feng said, taking out his phone and dialing Muyun's number. After a while, he shook his head. "No one answered."

Vivian and Lin Feng looked at each other, and she was the first to speak. "Does she have any other friends or places she might be?"

"No, she came here alone like you, unfamiliar with the place," Lin Feng said, slowly standing up. "And she never keeps quiet when something's up. If there was a real emergency, she should have called back immediately. Could something have happened to her?"

"What could happen to her? Her combat power is not for show," Vivian said casually. "You're too nervous, aren't you?"

"Well, she is a werewolf... at least, a fierce dog," Lin Feng said, though the unexplained unease in his heart didn't diminish. He didn't know where this unease came from. Logically, Muyun had only been out for a few hours, and the fact that her phone was temporarily unreachable shouldn't be cause for concern. Yet, Lin Feng felt that something was wrong, as if his long-dormant sixth sense was stirring again. It was annoying but inevitable.

"I'll release a few bats to search the nearby streets," Vivian said, seeing Lin Feng's restless demeanor as she stood up and conjured a few black bats. "I probably know where she usually goes. If we can't find her, we'll go out and look for her."

Lin Feng was about to nod when his phone, which was lying on the armrest of the sofa, suddenly rang loudly, startling him. He quickly picked it up, only to see Muyun's caller ID: a white husky, a picture he had inexplicably set last night, sourced from a video screenshot of Muyun's transformation a few days ago.

"Hello, Muyun?" Lin Feng waved to Vivian, indicating it was Muyun on the line. "Where are you? Why didn't you come back for lunch?"

"Landlord, landlord, I've encountered two lunatics," Muyun's voice came through in a hushed tone, mysteriously. "Two foreigners claiming to be my 'parents,' wanting to take me back to the family. Now I'm in a place I don't know."

Lin Feng's heart tightened at once. His face changed, and Vivian, who was beside him, immediately leaned over. "What's going on?"

Lin Feng gestured for Vivian not to speak, then asked urgently, "Where are you now? What do the two foreigners look like? How did they talk to you? Are you safe now?"

"I don't know where I am," Muyun's voice still sounded lively, indicating she hadn't been harmed much. She sounded confused. "They're acting weird, not explaining anything clearly. Oh, one of them is very tall, about two meters tall, as strong as a bear. The other one is a man about the same build as you, the landlord, with a hooked nose and looks sickly... "

Muyun rambled on about the situation on her end, but Lin Feng couldn't grasp the essence of it. He could only deduce that the idiot had really been abducted. He was a little frustrated. "How could you be so careless as to be easily abducted by strangers?"

"I didn't intend to go with them!" Muyun sounded angry. "I was taken away by a burst of black smoke! That big guy can use magic. A burst of black smoke brought me here. After the smoke cleared, I was in a room I didn't recognize. If it were normal, I would have knocked down such a guy long ago, but this time, these two seem quite powerful. I don't know if I can beat them, so I didn't dare to act rashly... Landlord, come and save me quickly!"

"I and Vivian are going out now. Give me a rough description of what you can see so I can figure out where you are. By the way, where are the two foreigners who abducted you? Will you be discovered if you make this call?" Lin Feng asked.

"They went out to buy food for me, but one of them didn't go far. I can smell him nearby, but at such a distance and with a wall blocking us, he can't hear what's going on over here," Muyun's voice became even lower, to the point where Lin Feng could barely hear her. It seemed that even a husky had its own brain. "I'm in a room that looks quite rundown, with a lot of peeling wall paint. It seems to be an abandoned house. The big guy sealed the door and windows with black mist, so I can't get out or see the situation outside. But just now, when they opened the door, I looked out and saw what looked like a warehouse outside."

Lin Feng was stunned. With such limited information, how could he deduce anything? There were simply too many abandoned warehouses in T City, and at least dozens would fit the description...

"Search the room for any distinguishing features," Lin Feng said, realizing he couldn't find any valuable information from the clues Muyun provided. "If it's the warehouse office, there might be old signs or scraps of paper left behind. Look around."

"Signs..." There was a clattering sound from Muyun's end. "Although it's quite run-down here, those two lunatics seem to have cleaned up specifically. Everything's clean and there's nothing... Oh, I found it! There's a scrap metal plate here, and I can't see the words on it clearly, but I can make out 'Haoyun' something... is that useful?"

"Haoyun?" Lin Feng immediately racked his brains, trying to remember any old warehouses in the city that might be associated with 'Haoyun.' But at that moment, he suddenly heard a faint clanging sound from Muyun's end, as if the warehouse door had been pushed open, followed immediately by Muyun's voice, "They're back, I have to hang up."

"Be safe!" Lin Feng managed to say before the call ended.

"What's going on?" Vivian asked, leaning over. Despite their usual conflicts, she was equally concerned now.

"That idiot has been kidnapped... it sounds like a kidnapping," Lin Feng said, calming down, but the sense of unease in his heart was completely overwhelming. "She's so capable, yet she's been kidnapped... this world is truly dangerous."

Lin Feng then roughly explained Muyun's situation to Vivian, who, after listening, breathed a sigh of relief. "Don't worry, that big dog will be fine."

Lin Feng looked at Vivian strangely, and she reminded him

, "Do you remember Kasah Aiben you encountered? "

Lin Feng suddenly felt goosebumps on his back. "That tough guy?!"

"Why do you only remember 'tough guy'?" Vivian gave Lin Feng a stern look. "If I'm not mistaken, Muyun was taken by that Kasah Aiben. She was discovered by her own 'kin.'"

"Kin?" Lin Feng suddenly realized. "You mean that tough guy is a werewolf?!"

"Aiben's family, if I'm not mistaken, should be them," Vivian sighed, a hint of regret on her face. "I shouldn't have been so careless. It seems I've been too comfortable over the past hundred years, losing my vigilance. When I heard the name Aiben, I should have thought of them."

Lin Feng blinked. "Since they're werewolves, why did they kidnap Muyun?"

"What else can they do? Bring their kin back," Vivian shrugged. "The Aiben family is one of the few remaining peculiar families that still fantasize about the 'mythical age' and the only werewolf clan that emphasizes 'family values.' They have been constantly searching for lost kin around the world. At first, they only gathered their own family or members of their blood relatives, but in the past two hundred years, they have expanded their range to include the entire werewolf population. As long as you're a werewolf, they'll try to recruit you. Someone like Muyun... who would think she's a husky unless you see her with your own eyes?"

Lin Feng: "..."

It was clear that the two unfortunate werewolves who had "kidnapped" Muyun had been tricked.
