Fan was not surprised by what Lin Wu would say next.
He propped his head on his fingers, glanced at Lin Wu from the corner of his eye, and said slowly, "Even if the City Lord died, the control would not disappear. In fact, if he were to die, we would likely die with him."
"How do you know?"
Lin Wu's heart skipped a beat.
Seeing her take the conversation seriously, and seeming somewhat unsettled, the man slightly curved his lips.
"I confirmed this two years ago."
He recalled the past, organized his thoughts, and then continued, "One night, more than two years ago, a stranger came to Assassin City. His arrival was very secretive and low-profile, led by Mo Lang directly to the City Lord's residence, and only left after an hour. If I hadn't happened to be checking the city's defenses on the island and noticed that most of them had been shut down, I wouldn't have become aware of it."
