The duchess's voice dripped with malice as she sneered at Lucifer, her eyes gleaming with triumph. "You're still naive, Lucifer? You let me into your house, without even suspecting a thing."
Lucifer's eyes widened in agony as he clutched his heart, his face contorted in a mixture of pain and shock. He gasped for breath, his voice barely above a whisper. "I...sh...shouldn't have trusted you...or your daughter... Ev...even if she is made out of our blood."
The duchess's laughter was like ice, cold and mirthless. "Foolish Lucifer," she whispered, her eyes glinting with malevolence. "You should have known better than to trust me."
As Lucifer's eyes fluttered closed, the duchess's gaze shifted to her daughter, a look of pride and admiration on her face. "Well done, my daughter," she whispered, her voice dripping with satisfaction. "I knew you could do this. With this, phase one is complete."
