= Sarah POV =
"Sarah," Chris's voice called out, interrupting my thoughts as I eyed Heather's delicious-looking baked rice.
I turned to find Chris standing at the window, holding my tray.
I quickly got up and walked over, holding my hands for the tray.
"I made things how you usually like them at home; I hope you don't mind," Chris explained and smiled.
Sure enough, as she placed the tray in my hands, there was my broccoli boiled on the side, and she had made me Aglio Olio using fusilli and basil leaves, adding some turkey into the mix to give it a bit of protein. On the side, she had taken my strawberries, cut them into slices and placed them on a bowl of yoghurt, my favourite after-meal treat.
"This is perfect, thank you," I beamed.
"Well, I cook for us all the time, so yours was the easiest for me," Chris smiled. " Enjoy", she said and turned away to return to her station.
"I love you!" I said and then stopped in my tracks. " I mean, I love it! I love the food…" I said, feeling so embarrassed.
Chris slowly turned and looked at me and then winked.
"Of course," she said, continuing to walk, leaving me feeling weak in the knees.
I quickly turned away and returned to my seat, feeling like an idiot. Who blurts out "I love you" like that?
"Oh, so the roommate thing is some kind of in the closet…" Lawrence said as I sat down.
"No! That was a slip of the tongue; I love the food. The food. " I gasped, looking desperately from Lawrence to Heather.
Heather just shrugged as she continued to woof down the food, and Lawrence gave me a sympathetic pat on the back.
"It's ok, a lot of people here 'love' the newcomer Chris… I mean, they love her food," Lawrence said and grinned.
"Omg, just kill me now," I said, burying my face in my hands.
"And waste delicious food? Never," Heather grinned and poked my tray, " Eat your crush's food, which looks like the closest you are gonna get to eating her out," Heather said and burst out laughing, and Lawrence gave her a high five over my misery.
"Guys, stop it; it's too cruel," I groaned and sulkily scooped up my delicious fusilli and shoved it into my mouth.
