Chapter 42: Dawn and Dusk

In the night of White River Town in an ordinary room Helen sat on a rough wooden bed wiping her magic staff sword by the flickering lamplight while Iris beside her softly read a church book in her hands. To be precise it was the fifth volume of the Book of Astaria's Nativity chapter.

In this world faith makes a sound and response becomes a miracle.

The monks of the church enhance their faith by repeatedly reading the stories of Astaria from her descent to the present in order to gain Astaria's gaze and qualify to use her divine arts.

In other words only sincere piety from the heart is qualified to receive a fleeting glance from Astaria which is precisely why most grassroots church priests cannot use divine arts.

As for Helen unfortunately she was different from Iris beside her. She could not use divine arts.
