53. Setting out

"Success usually comes to those who are too busy to be looking for it." — Henry David Thoreau

As Irene and Holly stood outside the western gate of the base camp, their eyes widened in awe at its sheer size and scope. It dwarfed everything they had seen before, except for the capital. Serving as the epicenter of the invasion into the Kingsfall zone, it was a behemoth of logistical and economic activity.

What set it apart from the capital was its architectural style. Unlike the tall and elegant buildings that graced the capital, the base camp was a collection of mainly two or three-story structures, with only a few daring to reach four stories.

Looking off in a daze, Holly spoke in a trance.

"Is this how big all of the cities in this zone are?"

Feeling his lips curling up in amusement, he answered while beginning to walk to the gated entrance.
