Chapter 52

"What else do you want to show me besides the paintings in the glass and the glass room?"

This was my third question and I got no answer from Nareswara. He just kept holding my hand to climb the wooden stairs to the attic of his house. Was Nareswara going to lock me up in the attic as a meal for the hungry attic rats?

"You don't mean to be naughty to me, do you," I asked, stopping walking when our feet stepped on the last step.

Nareswara just answered with a shake of his head, then invited me to the wooden door that separated the attic from the teak stairs. Nareswara opened the brown wooden door that looked a little dusty. He entered first with his ladder feeling the wall to find the light switch. I just stood there frozen in front of the open door. It looked dark inside and seemed rarely visited by Nareswara.
