chapter three: chaos

The day started two weeks after the alert went out. Someone was missing. I didn't know what was going on. It felt strange. I had forgotten my brother, brother-in-law, my dad, my mom, and my stepdad were all in the house. I tried to figure out what had happened in those two weeks. I wondered how a flu could make seven people act so strange. It didn't make sense. I flipped on the TV to KOMU 8 to catch the news. A story came on about a missing person. Then, they talked about a new kind of flu. I sat on the kitchen stool and watched until the end. The news anchor started to do her usual. She thanked everyone for watching KOMU 8 news in Columbia. As Toady's breaking news reports that rumors are spreading online. These rumors involve a new virus. The rumors began after some people went missing downtown. Reports say the missing people acted odd. Some think the virus made them act that way. Social media sites like Facebook and Twitter are full of these theories. Evie Allen has stated while live on air. The rising cases made people wonder. is the government telling the whole truth? Is the virus as it seems? These ideas might not be true. There is little proof besides the missing people. Even so, this virus is still a big danger. It spreads fast. More schools in Missouri are closing. They will stay closed until things get better. officials advise people in Columbia to stay away from crowds. They also say to wash hands well after being outside. Much about this sickness is still unknown. Who was the first patient? Where did it start? These things are being looked into. For now, officials think travelers brought it to Columbia during the Fourth of July. Some people think it came from a lab by accident. Evie Allen said more about it. It made me think even harder.
