Homeworks, cookies and closet

Zendaya groaned. "Ugh, homework? I don't want to, darling. But I guess we have to, or we'll forget and get caught up in something else," Kamsi reasoned.

"Okay, okay, let's just get it done as quickly as possible," Zendaya relented. "Have you even opened your book yet, brave one?"

Kamsi sighed as she opened her textbook. "How are we going to finish this, arrange your room, and still have time to go out?"

"Let's just do our best and see how it goes," Kamsi suggested, trying to stay optimistic.

"I guess," Zendaya agreed, though her enthusiasm had waned.

The girls settled into their homework, taking breaks here and there to chat and laugh. After about two hours, they were finally ready for their next adventure.

"Ughhhh! I can't believe I studied for that long, and it's all thanks to you," Zendaya said, looking both relieved and tired.

"Well, technically, I did all the research," Kamsi laughed. "But it did take a month's worth of effort to get it all copied," Zendaya joked.

After hours of sorting and arranging, Zendaya sighed heavily. "Can't you get rid of some of these clothes? You won't need to repeat any of them for a year," she said, still folding.

"My mom insisted I keep them. Don't get me started," Kamsi replied. "She didn't want me to feel overwhelmed and wanted me to be comfortable. You've got some great clothes yourself; sometimes I wish your mom was mine," Zendaya remarked playfully.

"Speaking of which, I don't think I've seen your mom around," Kamsi said, looking around.

Zendaya's face fell, and Kamsi immediately sensed her distress. "What's wrong?" Kamsi asked, concern etched on her face.

Zendaya forced a smile. "Nothing."

Kamsi moved closer, her expression filled with worry. "Areyou sure? You know you can share?"

Zendaya's tears welled up. "It's just my parents. They fight and argue so much. I often wonder if things will get better, but it keeps getting worse. When one is home, the other's not, and when they're both home, it's just fighting and shouting. I barely remember when we last had a happy meal together."

Kamsi offered a sympathetic ear. "Sorry, I had no idea. I'm so sorry for your pain, friend."

Zendaya continued, tears streaming down her face. "My parents are planning for divorce, and soon they'll be apart and fighting over my custody"

Kamsi tried to reassure her. "Over your custody ? That won't happen. Everything's going to be okay, Zendaya."

Kamsi pulled Zendaya into a tight hug. "I know what's going to make you feel better."

Zendaya looked up, questioning. "What?"

Just then, Kamsi announced, "Homemade cookies!" Kamsi exclaimed, jumping up and running to the kitchen. She quickly returned with a container of freshly baked cookies.

"Here, have one," Kamsi offered with a smile.

Zendaya thanked her and took a bite. Her eyes widened in delight at the delicious taste. "Your mom's cookies are capable of elevating my mood," Zendaya joked.

Zendaya and Kamsi stood before the open closet, its shelves bursting with an array of clothing. The task ahead was both daunting and exhilarating. They began by pulling out various outfits, each choice eliciting a cascade of reactions and laughter.

Kamsi grabbed a sleek black dress with a shimmering belt and held it up to the light. "How about this one?" she asked, her tone hopeful. Zendaya peered over, considering it with a thoughtful frown.

"Nah, too formal for today," Zendaya replied with a shake of her head, her fingers already reaching for a different item. She pulled out a pair of bright yellow leggings paired with a graphic tee that featured a quirky cartoon character. "Or how about these?"

Kamsi's eyes widened with exaggerated shock. "That's... definitely a bold choice. But I'm not sure we're going for 'clown chic' today." They both burst into laughter, the sound echoing through the room.

Undeterred, Zendaya tossed the leggings aside and picked up a soft, floral sundress. "This one has potential," she said, holding it up against Kamsi's frame. Kamsi twirled in front of the mirror, admiring the dress's flowy fabric.

"Hmm, maybe. But it might be too summery for what we have in mind," Kamsi mused, returning the dress to the rack. She reached for a chunky sweater and high-waisted jeans. "This looks cozy, though."

Zendaya nodded in agreement but then her eyes landed on a sleek leather jacket hanging on a hook. "What if we paired it with this? It'd make the outfit pop!"

The room turned into a whirlwind of fabric as Kamsi grabbed a velvet jumpsuit from the top shelf and slipped it on over her clothes, striking a dramatic pose. "This feels like it could be a statement, right?" she asked, her voice full of excitement.

Zendaya nodded vigorously but then saw a sparkly top draped over a chair. She snatched it and held it up, imagining it with a pair of skinny jeans. "What about this? We could mix it with something simple."

Kamsi considered it, holding up the top next to her face. "Definitely eye-catching. But maybe we should save it for a night out."

They continued to sift through the closet, exploring combinations and debating each outfit's merits. Zendaya tried on a pair of high-top sneakers with a floral skirt, doing a little dance to show off. "What do you think? Too much?"

Kamsi laughed, shaking her head. "Not at all. Just not for today's plans."

Finally, after what felt like an eternity of outfit changes and giggles, they found their ideal looks. Kamsi selected a chic blouse paired with tailored trousers, while Zendaya opted for a trendy jumpsuit with a stylish belt. They admired their choices in the mirror, their faces beaming with satisfaction.

"Well, that was a workout," Zendaya said with a grin, stepping back from the closet. "But we did it!"

Kamsi nodded, her eyes shining with excitement. "And now we're ready for our outing. Let's make the most of it!"

With their final choices made and the closet in a state of organized chaos, they prepared to head out, their spirits high and their outfits on point.
