Kamsi and Zendaya walked into the school's cafeteria after class, their usual chatter dying down when they noticed the unusual commotion. The air buzzed with murmurs and sharp whispers, and students had gathered into a tight circle, blocking whatever was at the center.
"What's going on?" Kamsi asked, her eyebrows furrowing. Zendaya shrugged, her face equally puzzled as they craned their necks to catch a glimpse of the source of the chaos.
Finally, Kamsi caught sight of Xavier crouched over a guy who was barely recognizable, his face a bloody mess. Xavier's fist was poised, his knuckles painted red. His chest rose and fell with labored breaths, his entire being vibrating with an intensity that chilled Kamsi to her core.
"What's happening?" she gasped, horrified by the scene before her. She turned to a girl standing beside her, who glanced at Kamsi with a look of mild disbelief.
"Like you don't know? For Xavier, this is nothing uncommon," the girl remarked dryly before turning her attention back to the fight, unfazed.
Kamsi sighed, her heart thundering in her chest. Where the hell are the teachers? she wondered in disbelief.
Suddenly, the beaten boy on the ground spat blood and words at Xavier, his voice dripping with defiance despite his battered state. "F—fuck you!"
Xavier's lips curled into a smirk, the dangerous gleam in his eyes only growing darker. "I'm sorry, but you're not my type," he quipped coldly before driving his fist into the guy's face one last time. The sickening sound of the boy's head slamming against the floor echoed through the cafeteria, sending gasps through the crowd. Some students exchanged frantic glances, wondering if Xavier had killed him.
Calm as ever, Xavier pulled a handkerchief from his pocket and wiped his bloodied hand clean. It was like the violence hadn't even touched him. As his eyes lifted from his task, they landed squarely on Kamsi. Her breath hitched, and she flinched involuntarily at the sight of him—this enraged, untouchable version of Xavier that she barely recognized.
Her small reaction seemed to make his blood boil even more. His gaze hardened, but just as he began to move toward his seat, a teacher rushed in, heels clicking across the tiled floor.
"Not again," Miss Caramel muttered under her breath, scanning the room with growing irritation. Her eyes narrowed at the bloody figure on the ground. "What the hell happened here?"
The cafeteria was deathly quiet now, the energy heavy with unspoken fear. No one dared to make a sound. Kamsi stood there in disbelief. Why isn't anyone saying anything? Her mind screamed for someone, anyone, to do something. But no one did. The students began to disperse quietly, leaving Kamsi standing there, frozen, staring at the limp figure on the ground.
Miss Caramel's sharp gaze zeroed in on her. "You," she barked, pointing at Kamsi. "Who did this?"
The question echoed through Kamsi's mind, but her lips wouldn't move. Say something kmsi, she urged herself, but fear gripped her throat tight.
"Can't you speak?!" Miss Caramel snapped, her voice harsh enough to break Kamsi from her trance. Slowly, almost mechanically, her hand rose, and she pointed directly at Xavier.
The entire cafeteria seemed to gasp in unison. Zendaya face-palmed beside her, muttering under her breath, "Is she being stupid? Does she wanna die?"
"Just as I thought." Miss Caramel's voice was curt as she turned to Xavier. "Come with me, Mr. Alastair."
She gestured to Damon, who had been watching from a distance with his usual nonchalance. "You—take him to the nurse."
Damon pointed at himself, feigning confusion. "Me?" he mumbled under his breath. This is what I get for being too attractive I just stand out!
Xavier, unfazed, slipped his hands into his front pockets and followed Miss Caramel toward the exit, his calm exterior betraying none of the violence he had just unleashed. As he passed Kamsi, his dark, piercing eyes met hers, and for a moment, everything else blurred. His gaze was deadly, sending a wave of cold fear through her, and she felt shivers race down her spine.
In that moment, Kamsi knew one thing for sure—she had made a dangerous enemy.
Miss Caramel leaned back in her chair, eyes narrowing as she stared at Xavier. "What did the kid do to deserve that, Xavier?" she asked, dropping any formalities now that they were alone in her office.
Xavier sat down, nonchalantly folding his arms across his chest. "The kid had it coming," he muttered, his tone dismissive.
Miss Caramel shot him a sharp look. "I never said you could sit down."
"Well, good thing I didn't ask," Xavier replied with a smug grin.
Miss Caramel heaved a deep sigh. This boy is going to be the end of me. "You can't keep doing this, Xavier. Sooner or later, it's going to catch up to you," she warned, her tone more serious now. "You're in your senior year. It would be better for you to start showing good behavior. No school will want to scout a raging bull."
Xavier got to his feet, clearly disinterested in her advice. "Like I said," he repeated, shoving his hands into his pockets. "He had it coming."
As he turned to leave, Miss Caramel's voice stopped him in his tracks. "Who said you could leave?"
He turned to face her again, his expression asking, what else do you want ?
She met his gaze sternly. "As your punishment for breaking the school's code of conduct…"
Meanwhile, back in the cafeteria, Kamsi sat at the table, staring blankly at her untouched food. Zendaya was pacing, her hands flailing in exaggerated motions as she ranted.
"What the hell, Kamsi? Why did you do that? What happened to laying low till graduation? Do you have a death wish?" Zendaya's voice grew more panicked. "Oh my God, I'm going to die too! No one goes up against Xavier! You literally pointed at him in front of the whole school! You're as good as dead. You should start packing now. Get ready to leave, because I'm sure he's cooking up a plan to make your life a living hell. And even if he's not—Patricia definitely is!"
As if on cue, Patricia sat at her usual table with her posse, glaring daggers at Kamsi from across the cafeteria. Her friends, Camilla and Tylee, leaned in close, whispering furiously.
"Who the hell does she think she is?" Camilla hissed. "I warned her not to hang around Xavier, and look what she did! Now she thinks she can go up against him? We need to take her down, teach her a lesson she won't forget."
Tylee nodded. "I bet she thinks just because she hung around him a few times, she knows him. She doesn't know the real Xavier—he's a monster. He'll probably take her down himself."
Patricia had been quiet until now, but finally, she spoke up, her voice low and cold. "No," she said, her lips curling into a cruel smile. "We do it ourselves. This is our chance—my chance to get back at her for all the embarrassment. And to prove to Xavier that I'm the right one."
Her friends chuckled darkly. Camilla smirked, leaning in closer. "So what's the plan?"
Patricia's eyes glinted with malice as she spoke. "We're going to make her regret ever crossing him. It's time to put Kamsi in her place."
