269 - From the ashes

Daemon calmly looked into Cynthia's eyes, and nodded:

"Let's have a happy cooperation, but for now, I won't be able to entertain you further, Ms Harsh. With the contract now signed, I have to make sure that nothing happens that will make me lose my company. I would be remiss if I were to make you waste your time, after all."

At that moment, Blandon came back with the task given to him already executed. Daemon took the original contract from him, and handed it to Cynthia.

Cynthia stood up, her smile spreading on her dark red lips:

"Certainly. I will not be taking any more of your time then, Mr Peak. Have a good day."

Daemon nodded:

"And I won't be seeing you off, Ms Harsh."

It didn't matter to Cynthia, as Daemon being angry was already enough to make her happy. She would have even hummed a tune, had it not been for wanting to maintain the last bit of decorum.
