Cynthia's words brought silence to the office, but Evelyn frowned:
"Miss Harsh, your words are offensive, watch out for them."
The two women looked at each other, the contest between them not of beauty, but of something more substantial, something present only within those confident in what they have beyond their beauty and their figure.
Breaking the short stand-off, Evelyn exhaled, breathing away the weight her gaze had been holding. In a calm voice without any heat at all, she corrected Cynthia:
"There has been no deception, Miss Harsh, nor any lie, because there has been no need to. And even if there has been any deception of any kind, the court is not blind. Unless, of course, Miss Harsh is afraid that every institution in our country is as self-serving as the ones that vetted the certificates used to find fault with Healthy Peak and demand compensation from us!"
