There was an awkward silence between the two who stayed outside the office of Dr Wright. Was it not for the people coming and going, it would have been even more so. But looking closer, the awkwardness was only being felt by Evelyn's mother. Daemon sat in silence, looking calm and relaxed.
At that moment, rapid footsteps came from the side, totally unlike the calmer one that had been coming and going. It was only when it stopped that Daemon turned to take a better look at the one he had seen from the corner of his eyes.
He met brown eyes like Evelyn's, but harder, and less warm. The eyes froze on him for a moment, before they moved to Lune:
"Mom, are you–? Is Evelyn–?"
Lumian seemed unable to complete any of his sentences, and it was the palm that fell on his back that made him calm down. He turned to look at Raquel, that same dark-haired woman who had been the source of Marc Trevor's information at the old classmate meeting of November the previous year.
