Chapter 64: Avaline*

Both Ava and Emma reported to the office the next day.

" Ms Avaline, the documents you asked for."

" Thank you, Jona....

Ava clasps her mouth feeling nauseous all of a sudden.

" Ms Avaline."

Jonathan creased his brows. Ava was about to hold onto the edge of the table but missed it causing her to stumble forward. Jonathan acted quick and held her by her shoulders.

" Are you okay?."

Ava shook her head still holding her mouth. He could tell she was about to throw up but she was holding it in. Without thinking, he pulled her in his embrace. Ava widened her eyes shocked towards Jonathan's sudden bold move.

" Forgive me Ms Avaline, but I can tell you don't want to throw up so breath in my scent. It's mixed with lemon and cinnamon."

He explained himself. Ava took a couple of breaths in, that seemed to calm down her nervous and her nausea subsided.

The door to the office opened but Ava didn't seem to hear it open. Her wrist was suddenly pulled and she went straight into Zain's arms, she opened her eyes blinking at Zain, but his focus was on Jonathan.

" And what's going on here?."

" Ah... Z-ain. Jonathan was just....

" The question wasn't meant for you cupcake, I asked your secretary."

" Ms Avaline was feeling quite nauseous, I was helping calm her nervous."

Zain felt displeasure by the thought of seeing his woman in another man's arms who isn't him.

" I'll take care of my girlfriend, you may leave."

Jonathan glanced at Ava one last time before walking away.

" You could have said you weren't feeling well this morning."

" Don't tell me you're jealous, Jonathan was only helping."

" By hugging you, the guy was clearly hitting on you. He was probably hard with you rubbing yourself on him."

" Zain! Are you f*cking kidding me right now. What the f*ck are you saying, do you hear yourself?."

Ava. Was beaming with anger and frustration.

" Calm down baby girl."

" Don't... don't tell me to f*cking calm down. Zain."

" I guess I touched a nerve, I apologize."

He grabbed her waist lifting her up and sat her on the desk.

" I'm sorry, I don't like seeing another man touching what belongs to me."

" I'm not a property that anyone can claim, I don't belong to anyone...not even you."

Ava stood on her feet...walking away, leaving him standing there.

Zain, chuckled_ amusement written all over his face.

' I guess I'll have to do what I need to, in order to make you mine permanently.'

He murmured.

Z.N GROUP...

Alec answered the office phone as the receptionist related the words to him.

" Mr Qinn, there's a man here to see you by the name Chad."

" You may let him In."

" Yes Sir."

Alec leaned back into his chair calm as the soft wind in a summer day. The office door opened and Chad walked in casually with a smile.

" Mr Alec Qinn."

" No need to be formal, Chad. Please take a seat."

Alec casually said. Chad took a seat rubbing his hands on his thighs nervously.

" Can I get you anything, a cup of coffee maybe?." Alec offered.

" Ah...no thanks I'm fine."

He kindly declined the offer. Alec studied his face for a while before getting right into the matter.

" Then I'll get straight to the point to why I called for you here." Alec grabbed the file laying on his side and threw it to Chads side.

" That's all the information my source gathered on you, and yet I still can't figure out one thing. For instance, why choose to show your disgraceful face in front of me. Do you not fear for your life?."

Alec's face went from a cool summer air - breeze, to a cold stormy air. That calm composed face was long gone, replaced by anger and dislike. Chad felt like a little mouse trapped into the lion's claws ready to be eaten.

" I-i came in order to fix my wrongs towards you."

Alec scoffed at his response, somehow finding it a bit funny and irritating at the same time.

" Tell me what exactly are you expecting? That I'll come running to you cause your blood runs in my veins? Are you expecting a family reunion, after what you did?. You broke a teenage girls dreams, ruined her life, made her homeless and suffer, how is one supposed to move on from such trauma...huh?."

" I know what I did was wrong and I terribly regret that, I was young and stupid... surly you would understan-

" No, I wouldn't understand cause I'm not a social-path. My father raised me to respect women... Now listen to me carefully, you will leave from here and never show your face in front of me nor my family, that's if you value your life of course. Better leave my office now."

" Alec... please, give me a chan-

" I won't repeat myself."

A killer shot made Chad weak in the knees and tremble, he stood running out of room like he just saw a ghost or was faced with a life threatening situation.

Alec's phone buzzed a couple of times before he answered.

" Are the arrangements done?." He asked.

" Yes Sir."

Alec hang up loosening his tie a bit, returning his focus back to his work.

ANDERSON GROUP CAFETERIA....

Emma sipped on her ice coffee glancing at Ava who's face was still red from anger and frustration with Zain's confrontation earlier.

" Let yourself to breathe Ava, you look like a tomato about to burst."

" I just don't understand why he was reacting that way, I mean, Jonathan was only helping me. And the way he said it was like he owned me, do I look like a property or an object something to be owned?!"

" Lower your tone, you don't want everyone to know you two argued. I know Jonathan was only helping but, I think every man would be jealous and owning if they found their woman in another man's arms."

" So you're siding with him?." Ava glared at Emma.

" N-no...of course not, in fact I'm not siding with anyone here it's just my opinion." Emma drank her iced coffee. " Eat up." She added.

At breaking dawn. Ava went home early leaving Emma behind, she still wanted to work over time and finish the project before tomorrow morning. Betha stayed with her to help with a few things.

It was pitch black out when Ava arrived home, her legs were killing her with pain upon stepping out of the car. ' gosh, it's worse than when I was carrying Sonya, my whole body aches '

Ava complained. She went inside straight upstairs to the bedroom, frowned by the darkness of the room she walked inside to find the light switch. ' is he not here yet?' she mumbles with herself.

" Ah....f*ck! Shit."

Ava cusses hitting her toes to the edge of the bed. She finally finds the light switch... turning it on.

" F* ck! Are you f*cking kidding me."

She was startled seeing Zain, seated in a corner of the room twirling a glass of whiskey in his hand, his expression was blank and cold to it's extent, it got her wondering.

" Zain, what are you doing sitting in the dark?."

Her question made Zain raise his head to look at her, which followed by a suffocating silence that made Ava's stomach turn, suddenly getting anxious.

" Zain-

" Sit down. " He suddenly ordered.

" Huh?."

" Sit... down, Avaline." It followed with a growl. Ava flinched by his sudden outburst towards her, she hesitantly sat down just the opposite to where he sat.

" I-if y-you're still upset... with what happened earlier i-i--

" You... you've been lying to me all this time, Avaline."

His voice was too deep and husky, she has never seen him this angry before, nor has he ever used her full name before... especially in such a cold manner.

" I don't know what you're talking about, Zain. W-what have i- been lying to you about?."

" Damnit Ava." Zain slams his hand on the arm resting of the sofa. Ava gasped startled as tears fell from her eyes. " You still won't admit it?."

" Admit what?! I don't know...what you're talking about."

" You're pregnant, Ava! You're pregnant and you didn't tell me a ghat damn thing."

Zain threw the pregnancy report on the glass table.

" You were snooping through my things?."

Ava clenched her fists.
