Chapter 17: Improvement

*ELOWEN*

Otto and Therius had their little duel, and we watched as Therius' weapon adjusted to his size and speed. Then, Therius made some quick moves with his weapon, and Otto drew his, both spinning them. Therius launched himself at Otto, performing attack after attack while Otto blocked them. When Therius backed off, he began to move his scythe all over his body, causing the blade of his weapon to release a lightning bolt.

Luckily, Otto managed to block it while launching fireballs, and Therius blocked them until suddenly he adjusted his mana, and his body became enveloped in some electricity.

He moved so fast that I couldn't follow him, although I bet my parents could. As fast as he moved, he positioned himself behind Otto, almost landing his attack on his back, but Otto managed to block it with one of his metal rods, causing Therius in the air to go backwards.

When he was about to fall, Otto caught him. The guild master entered when Otto was throwing his fireballs, "nice demonstration, my dear fiancé," says the guild master Atheria, along with compliments from the others in the room. Then, Otto approached us to hand him over to my parents, and they said, "good job, son, now rest and replenish your mana to leave later." My brother just nodded, then he looked at me and said, "Wen, did you see that? Your skills should reach that level if you're not being lazy in your training," my brother said to me before falling asleep and handed the word to my father and fell asleep.

The afternoon passed where we should have been leaving, but my brother didn't wake up. I worried, "don't worry, daughter, what happens to your brother is just a setback. That happens when you spend all your mana and squeeze it all out until you're dry." If Dad said it, it must be true. Until the next day when my brother didn't wake up, so we would treat him the next day. At night, I was asleep, but I heard my mother ask if my brother was really okay, and she said that she shouldn't worry, that it was just the setback, so she believed her, and we fell asleep.

I felt the bed move, and my mother and I were scared, but it was just my father who got up and ran to my brother's room. I saw the guild master pass by, heard my father's scream, and Atheria entered through my mother saying that something was wrong with my brother, so she went to see him. Since I couldn't go, I had to use my senses to know what was going on, and it was my brother who was boiling in heat. Apparently, something was wrong with him because they said that the temperature they were witnessing in him was not normal.

My mother ordered something to Atheria, so she took me and gave me to Nora, who was confused. Then my father came down, took a few minutes, and the man Fredic was going up the stairs with my father and Atheria. I watched as they went and went to my brother's room. It took them hours to stabilize him with Fredic's ice magic and my mother's healing magic to lower his body temperature. A couple of times a day, my brother suffered from fever again until many days passed that I lost count. No one was watching over me, and I saw the door to my brother's room open, so I entered and saw my mother almost on top of Therius and Fredic beside him.

Then I entered and asked, "Dad, Mom, what's wrong with Brother Ther?" Although I knew what was happening to him, I worried, waiting for some kind of answer even though I was still too young to understand that.

Seeing my brother in that state, I approached and activated my healing magic, "Brother Ther, I'm here, let me help you, okay?" I said to him while my voice wanted to break seeing him in that state again but stable this time instead of pain it was his temperature that worried me, my father took me in his arms when my mother and Fredic finally managed to stabilize my brother and treat him like a common fever.

Several more days passed, and my brother was still in bed, and my father was guarding him by his side in case something happened. Then Sara and Valentina came to ask how the situation was since they were not there when all that happened, saying that it was already under control and that they hoped Trevor and Layra would return in a few hours to be able to visit Therius. Valentina and Sara stood guard so my parents could rest, and my mother took care of receiving them.

A few hours passed; it was Trevor, Layra, and I in Therius' room, when suddenly we saw how my brother began to move, but Layra screamed so loud that my father woke up and ran into the room holding Therius so he wouldn't move, my dad ordered Trevor to take me and Layra out and call our mother but he froze when he saw Therius.

So, Dad shouted again and finally reacted by taking us out, Trevor ran to Mom who was also approaching, and he told her that something was wrong with my brother, and she quickly ran up the stairs and went into the room, and apparently my parents' friends heard as they ran behind her.

I could hear my mother begging from downstairs, "Aetherius, son, I'm Mom, please calm down, stop shaking, okay? Please, I'm here," after several pleas and my mother's magic took effect, Therius stopped convulsing, my mother and father went down tired and defeated, seeing how their son could have died for the second time.

That same day, Trevor and Layra had to return to the academy since their time outside had ended, but not before telling my father that they would look for some kind of answer at school to what happened to Therius, and my parents thanked them for the help they would provide to Therius for that.

A couple of more quiet days passed, and it was night, and we were having dinner, me, the guild master, Mom, and Dad when my father and mother heard something somewhere and went to see what it was. We heard some screams from them when they returned; they were with Therius, and I noticed his better of white hair that had nothing to do with him since he normally had dark hair, but I didn't care. I thought to myself, finally, I ran to hug Therius and said, "Brother Ther, you finally woke up, I was scared."

Therius looked confused at our parents, asking why I cried as soon as I saw him. After telling him the whole situation of how he fell into bed and his body was in a worse state and about his convulsions two days ago and showing him the strand of white hair, my father ordered Therius to sleep with me to ease my fear. Then I said, "Brother Ther, let me heal you so you don't get sick again," I said to him as the golden light came out of my hand, which was the healing magic I inherited from my parents.

After Therius gave several thanks to the guild master for her concern, we went to sleep in his room.
