Panic

Chapter 62

Ember POV

I park the off-road car in one of the outer city lots and kill the engine. The second I swing open the door, the energy of the city hits me like a tidal wave.

Voices, laughter, the occasional howl in the distance. The sharp tang of pheromones already thick in the air, pulsing beneath the streets and neon lights.

Moonlight Revelry. The most anticipated night of the entire gathering. And judging by the sheer mass of wolves already crowding the streets—this year is going to be insane.

Not that I've ever attended one before. Last year, being Jake's mate, I had no reason to. And my old pack... we were in the absolute boonies. A month's drive away. Even those who wanted to come couldn't—not without serious planning. This? This scale of excitement? I'd only heard whispers, rumors.

The air practically vibrates with anticipation. I'm here for my final rounds before the sun fully sets and the night begins in earnest.
