Chapter 4082: Are the Spirit Demons Related to the Human Race?
Lin Moyu looked at the Spirit Demons of Heaven and Earth, an odd expression appearing on his face. The Spirit Demons were generally about one meter tall and looked remarkably similar to Elemental Liches almost like enlarged versions of them. Lin Moyu compared them in his mind: if you shrank these Spirit Demons down, they'd be identical to Elemental Liches.
Moreover, the Dao here was very strange. In the Land of Severed Daos, Lin Moyu sensed that there was a Dao here monopolized by the Spirit Demons, not belonging to the Origin Ancestral Land. Its nature was somewhat similar to the Physical Dao he'd discovered before, but unlike the pure Physical Dao, this one was extremely complex. From the Spirit Demons' Dao, Lin Moyu sensed a variety of forces, as if it encompassed countless Daos in one. This kind of fusion of various Dao powers into a single entity wasn't something Lin Moyu was seeing for the first time.
Over a thousand Spirit Demons surrounded Lin Moyu from all directions. They didn't speak, but Lin Moyu saw intelligence in their eyes. They seemed sentient, but simply didn't talk. The Spirit Demons made no move to attack, just surrounded him. Some looked at Lin Moyu with curiosity, as if he were some rare creature.
Since they didn't act, Lin Moyu didn't either. In the distance, he heard the voices of other Spirit Demons, clearly reporting back. He decided to just wait.
Soon, the Spirit Demons parted to make way for a taller Spirit Demon who flew over. As he passed, the others saluted him a gesture strikingly similar to human etiquette. Most ordinary Spirit Demons were at the Dao Venerable level, with a few at the Great Dao level. This tall Spirit Demon, however, had reached the Dao Lord level.
The tall Spirit Demon hovered in the air, looking down at Lin Moyu and spoke slowly, "Cultivator, why have you come here?"
Finally, someone who could speak. Lin Moyu rose to meet him at eye level and replied, "I am Lin Moyu, here to see the Spirit Demon Emperor." Even in the Spirit Demons' territory, as a Great Dao Lord, Lin Moyu maintained his composure.
The tall Spirit Demon asked in a low voice, "Why do you seek our Emperor?"
Lin Moyu replied, "I must speak with the Spirit Demon Emperor in person."
The tall Spirit Demon frowned, clearly displeased. "The Emperor is busy. You should leave."
He didn't even ask what the matter was, just tried to send Lin Moyu away Spirit Demons really weren't easy to deal with.
Lin Moyu took out the token given to him by the Lord of Fate. "Take me to the Spirit Demon Emperor."
The other party wasn't being polite, so Lin Moyu didn't bother either and spoke more directly. If this didn't work, he'd just force his way in.
As soon as the token appeared, the surrounding Spirit Demons all retreated and saluted the token. Though they said nothing, their actions made it clear they recognized it. The token wasn't special in itself, but it contained the aura of the Spirit Demon Emperor, which instinctively commanded their respect.
The tall Spirit Demon also studied the token, and after several moments said, "Follow me."
He led the way, flying deeper into Spirit Demon territory, silent the whole way clearly not fond of outsiders.
The Spirit Demons' territory was idyllic, like a paradise rarely seen in any world. There were rivers, but instead of water, they flowed with Dao power. This unique Spirit Demon Dao was a fusion of many forces, each river containing its own attributes, much like the independent Daos in the Origin Ancestral Land.
Many Spirit Demons lived by these rivers, their auras perfectly in tune with the Dao power flowing through them. The rivers of Dao power surged into the distance, eventually merging together without conflict.
"This is another Origin Ancestral Land," Lin Moyu thought. Compared to the Origin Ancestral Land, only the form of the Daos was different the essence was the same. He realized his earlier assumption was wrong: the Spirit Demons didn't possess just one Dao, but nearly all Daos.
There were countless Spirit Demons Lin Moyu saw at least tens of millions. More importantly, their strength was astonishing: the weakest were Dao Venerables, and he saw none below that level. Great Dao level Spirit Demons were everywhere, and there were quite a few at the Dao Lord level.
As they passed, Spirit Demons looked up curiously not at Lin Moyu, but at the token he held, which bore the Emperor's aura.
After about half an hour of flying covering tens of millions of li at their speed they still hadn't reached the edge of the territory. The Spirit Demons' domain was enormous.
Finally, they arrived at a giant stone stele. Lin Moyu instinctively thought of the Myriad Wonders Stele. This stele was very similar, but the inscriptions were different. The Myriad Wonders Stele contained countless secret arts, activated by soul power, but this stele was inscribed with a formation. Lin Moyu immediately recognized it as a teleportation array.
The tall Spirit Demon activated the formation. "Go in." As he spoke, he stepped into the array, and Lin Moyu followed.
The formation activated, and two seconds later, they appeared before another stone stele. As Lin Moyu's vision cleared, he saw a palace.
Looking at the palace, Lin Moyu felt a strange sense of familiarity not that he'd been here before, but the style of the palace seemed familiar, as if he'd seen it somewhere else.
"Why does a Spirit Demon palace feel so much like something from the human race?" he wondered. "Are Spirit Demons related to humans?"
The palace was decorated with carvings that, at a glance, resembled mythical beasts from human legends dragons, phoenixes, and others, all with human cultural elements.
The tall Spirit Demon respectfully saluted before the palace. "Emperor, a human cultivator seeks audience with the Emperor's token!"
A powerful aura surged from the palace, its pressure filling the world and making even Lin Moyu feel a hint of strain. The Spirit Demon Emperor was truly formidable, already beyond eternity, though seemingly not yet having taken that final step he was in a unique state.
A phantom face appeared in the sky, exuding immense pressure and speaking, "Let him in."
"Yes!" the tall Spirit Demon replied immediately.
With a rumble, the palace doors opened. The tall Spirit Demon said, "Go in yourself. The Emperor is inside."
Lin Moyu nodded and entered. Inside was a wide corridor leading to the depths, shrouded in mist so thick he couldn't see ahead. Without hesitation, he walked down the corridor.
On either side were many decorations, and the more Lin Moyu looked, the more puzzled he became these ornaments also had human elements. The cultural differences between races were usually vast, with almost no overlap, yet the Spirit Demons' decorations were full of human motifs. This couldn't be a coincidence.
Passing through the dense mist, Lin Moyu saw a modest little house. In front of it sat a Spirit Demon, and Lin Moyu caught the strong scent of tea.
