[Crash and Dek sat in the dimly lit auditorium, their eyes glued to the massive screen displaying a replay of the previous rank war finale. They watched in awe as the cadets who had clinched the top ranks demonstrated their extraordinary abilities. Their elemental control's sheer power and finesse left Crash and Dek inspired and daunted.]
Crash: "Those guys are on another level," Crash muttered, leaning back in his chair.
Dek: "No kidding. Their control over wind and rock...it's unreal," Dek replied, shaking his head in disbelief.
Seated beside them were Rank 5 and Rank 6, who turned to offer some encouragement.
Rank 5: "If you two can pull off something like that, things will change here. We believe in you and are ready to help you catch up."
Crash: "Oh please," Crash scoffed, though a slight grin tugged at the corner of his mouth. "As if we're going to trust you just like that."
Dek scanned the crowd, noting the unusual presence of instructors among the spectators.
Dek: "Why are so many instructors watching this?"
Crash: "How should I know? I barely understand half of this stuff," Crash replied with a shrug.
Suddenly, Supervisor A0 approached them with a stern expression.
Supervisor A0: "Why haven't you two completed the rank war initiation process recruitment manual form yet?"
Crash: "What do you mean? Have you filled that yet?"
Dek: "He means there's a big form we must fill out. It says that even if we end up with a worse rank, we can't complain or raise an issue," Dek explained.
Crash: "Oh damn, so you're saying we could end up with an even worse rank?"
Dek: "Yeah, the rank shuffling test is exactly for that purpose."
Crash: "Great. So what's next? What are we supposed to do now?"
A few minutes later, all the cadets were assembled in a large room where the K0, K1, K2, K3, K4, and K5 members stood waiting. The atmosphere was tense as everyone prepared for the briefing.
K0 Leader: "Alright, now that everyone is here, we will begin initiating the rank wars. I'm going to explain the procedure you'll need to follow. You will have two weeks for rank war preparation. Fourteen days to get ready. After this presentation, I suggest you start immediately."
The K0 leader paused, letting the information sink in before continuing.
K0 Leader: "The rank war will be divided into five parts. Part one is Control. This isn't just about controlling your elemental powers but also using them to control other elemental powers. The first stage of Control is divided into three parts."
The cadets leaned in, listening intently.
K0 Leader: "Part A involves fighting an opponent we select, which can be any opponent the robotic simulator creates. You must defeat this opponent using their powers against them. You can use your powers, but the goal is to mirror their abilities back at them to achieve victory."
Crash and Dek exchanged a glance, their minds already racing with strategies.
K0 Leader: "Part B is Survival. We'll send you to a lonely island-like jungle where you must control the environment to survive and navigate various challenges."
Crash: "Great, more jungle fun," Crash whispered sarcastically.
Dek: "We can handle it," Dek replied, though he couldn't hide the worry in his eyes.
K0 Leader: "Part C is Weapon Mastery. You will learn to control all the weapons available at the P.A.I.R. Institute of Assassination. Mastery of these weapons and your elemental abilities will be crucial."
The cadets murmured among themselves, the weight of the upcoming challenge pressing down on them.
Crash: "So, basically, it's a test of everything we've got," Crash said, trying to lighten the mood but failing to hide his anxiety.
Dek: "Yeah, but it's also our chance to prove ourselves. We can't let what happened with Ace define us."
The presentation ended, and the cadets were dismissed to start their preparations. Crash and Dek walked back to their dorms, the magnitude of what lay ahead sinking in.
Crash: "Two weeks. We have two weeks to get our act together," Crash said, his voice tinged with determination.
Dek: "We'll make it. We have to."
As they reached their room, they knew the path ahead would be gruelling, but their resolve was more vital than ever. The rank war would test their limits, but it would also be their chance to rise above their previous failures and showcase their true potential.
