The Name Doesn't Do Its Power Justice!

Leaving behind the events in the Forest of Life, the Windrunner sisters had successfully reached Dragonfall Gorge. Led by the Devourer Serpent King and the Zombie Dragon King, Wallis, they headed straight for the stronghold of the Octopus Ghost King.

The Octopus Ghost King was a level higher and significantly stronger than the Bone Dragon King, making it the first target to eliminate before tackling the Bone Dragon King.

"Why are there so many undead here?" Sylvanas wondered aloud, looking down at the crisscrossing gorges filled with countless undead creatures. Even the skies were teeming with flying undead. However, the overwhelming undead aura from the Devourer Serpent King and the Zombie Dragon King kept the lesser undead at bay, preventing them from approaching the group.

Aurelia and Vereesa were equally astonished. Aurelia, having seen many battles, was particularly struck by the sheer number and density of the undead, an unprecedented sight for her.

"The number of undead here wasn't this high a week ago," Wallis explained. "The appearance of the undead scourge has awakened countless undead in the underground world. Dragonfall Gorge is one of the main undead strongholds, attracting undead from hundreds of kilometers around. This is only the beginning. More undead will rise, eventually unleashing a true undead scourge across the Karar Desert."

Wallis had obtained this information by devouring the soul essence of various undead bosses. He also knew that the undead sweeping through the Karar Desert were primarily "The Departed" from ten thousand years ago. Their bones, buried underground and steeped in necromantic energy, had remained uncorrupted. Recently, a powerful unknown force had disturbed the underground world, stirring the dormant necromantic energy and giving rise to countless undead. What started as a trickle had become a flood, rapidly expanding to its current scale.

"With our current power, it's uncertain if we can end this undead scourge," Aurelia remarked, frowning.

Wallis grinned wickedly, "It's difficult with just us, but our master can do it! No matter who's behind this undead scourge, they're destined to meet their end with our master in charge!"

Aurelia couldn't help but agree. Their lord was indeed the most extraordinary human she had ever met.

...

Before long, the group arrived in the eastern region of Dragonfall Gorge. Though they hadn't yet seen the Octopus Ghost King, they noticed massive undead armies marching southwest.

"That octopus is impatient," the Devourer Serpent King commented. "The moment we left, it began moving its undead army to occupy the southwest region. Too bad it won't live to see it!"

With that, the Devourer Serpent King vanished from the sky, reappearing in the midst of an undead army, swiftly killing their leader, a skeleton king of saintly rank. It devoured the skeleton king's soul essence, extracting the general location of the Octopus Ghost King from its memories.

"Got you!" the Devourer Serpent King sneered, returning to the group. "You won't be needed for the next battle," it told the undead dragons. "You'd only be a liability. Go cleanse the gorge of scattered undead."

"Yes, sir!" The undead dragons quickly descended into the gorge.

"You two should go with them," Aurelia told Sylvanas and Vereesa.

Sylvanas disagreed, "Sister, the lord said our combined strength triples when we fight together!"

Aurelia shook her head, "Our enemy is a mid-tier demigod-level undead. It's too dangerous for you. We can handle it."

The dragon spirit perched on the Devourer Serpent King's head waved its tiny fists, signaling that it could handle the octopus.

"Go strengthen yourselves," Aurelia advised. "Once you reach demigod level, we can face enemies together."

Reluctantly, Sylvanas and Vereesa agreed and followed the undead dragons into the gorge.

"Let's go!" The Devourer Serpent King led the way, flying straight to the location it had discovered.

Aurelia and Wallis followed closely.

...

A few minutes later, they arrived above a massive crater. The crater spanned thousands of meters in diameter and was at least three to four hundred meters deep, with twisted canyons radiating outwards like the rays of the sun in a painting. This was the Octopus Ghost King's lair.

The crater was filled with bones and fresh corpses, guarded by powerful undead creatures. However, upon seeing the Devourer Serpent King and Wallis, these guards fled instantly. Facing living beings, they might have fought, but against two demigod-level undead, bolstered by draconic intimidation, they had no courage to stand their ground.

"Damn it! That octopus escaped!" Wallis growled in frustration.

Aurelia remained calm, "It won't get far." She pulled a golden arrow from the void, nocked it, and fired. The arrow flew into the crater, then eerily changed direction mid-air, speeding off.

Moments later, a powerful explosion echoed from miles away.

Aurelia smiled, "Found it! The Octopus Ghost King is there!"

"..."

"What kind of arrow is that? Its ability is incredible!" the Devourer Serpent King exclaimed.

"Tracking arrow," Aurelia replied.

Wallis scoffed, "That name doesn't do it justice. It's too plain."

Aurelia rolled her eyes. She had always disliked the undead.
