The Zombie Dragon King, Wallis, fell silent, while Aurelia, holding a green bow, looked equally grave. Even in their world, a lich was an immensely powerful being, capable of leading an undead plague that could sweep across the world, plunging countless intelligent races into despair and fear.
She had hoped this world would be somewhat better. But to her shock, a lich lay dormant in the subterranean depths below her. It could awaken at any moment. Clearly, the "master" that the octopus ghost king referred to was this very lich. Once awakened, the undead plague in the Karar Desert would become even more terrifying.
More importantly, there was also the titan devourer, the corpse wyrm. If it too successfully transformed, this world would face not one but two liches.
The thought weighed heavily on Aurelia's mind. Yet, she felt no regret about staying in this world, nor about following her lord. Her mission was to eradicate evil and make the world a better place. Battling an undead plague and confronting an evil lich were perfectly aligned with her beliefs.
Of course, she couldn't do it alone. But she had faith in her lord. Under his leadership and guidance, they could triumph over the lich and obliterate the undead army, restoring peace and harmony to the world.
"Don't worry," the baby dragon sprite, Doris, chimed in. "Doris is very powerful. Once Doris ascends to demigod status, she can crush the lich!"
Aurelia smiled at the little one's innocent confidence. She had grown fond of this adorable dragon sprite, especially because it was also a spirit, making her feel a sense of kinship. The Dragon King and the Zombie Dragon King, Wallis, seemed to feel a bit more at ease too. The dragon sprite was a high-level demigod, just a step away from reaching the peak of demigod status, and another step from becoming a sub-god.
The Dragon King spoke up, "Judging from the octopus ghost king's memories, the lich still has some time before it fully awakens. We should quickly conquer the Fallen Dragon Gorge and wipe out the undead here."
"Without a steady supply of powerful souls, the lich's awakening will be further delayed," Wallis added. "That's a good sign."
"Indeed," said the Zombie Dragon King. "Let's not waste any time. We need to take down the skeletal dragon king. If it escapes into the lich's underground lair, we won't be able to deal with it."
Given their current strength, they couldn't afford to risk awakening the lich prematurely. Even a weakened, partially awakened lich would be beyond their ability to handle.
"Let's go then!" Aurelia said, a look of determination on her face.
During the battle with the octopus ghost king, she had felt a surge of immense power within her—a power her lord had called "experience." This magical energy enhanced her mana and even helped her break through to higher levels of power. Aurelia had been at the early stage of the demigod rank for a long time, almost touching the barrier to the mid-level demigod rank. With this newfound "experience," she could sense the barrier's presence and realized it was incredibly thin. A little more effort, and she could break through without needing to retreat for long periods or endure harsh life-and-death trials.
Aurelia didn't yet understand that becoming one of Haotian's heroes had fundamentally changed her path of cultivation. She no longer needed lengthy seclusions or grueling experiences. As long as she accumulated enough "experience," she could effortlessly break through her limits. The potential for growth of the Windrunner sisters was up to the level of minor deities. If they worked hard enough, defeating more and stronger enemies, they could easily become immortal gods. This was why Haotian had told them that hard work could lead to godhood.
After clearing the battlefield and collecting the spoils and the remains of the octopus ghost king, they headed to the northern part of Fallen Dragon Gorge, the skeletal dragon king's lair. The remains of the octopus ghost king were highly valuable. As a mid-level demigod, its body was a treasure trove. If it couldn't be buried in the Dragon Tomb, it could at least be fed to the land's dracoliches, greatly enhancing their power.
Meanwhile, in the Golden Oasis, Haotian had mastered three supreme domain principles—Creation, Destruction, and Space. With the [Lord System]'s help, failure was impossible. As he opened his eyes, a much stronger aura emanated from him. His level hadn't reached the demigod tier yet, but his power had skyrocketed. He now felt confident he could easily defeat five of his previous selves.
"I'm close to breaking through to the demigod level," Haotian mused. "Mastering these supreme domain principles, combined with the experience I gained from Aurelia and the others defeating the octopus ghost king, has brought me to the brink of demigod status."
He reached out and clenched his right hand. Instantly, the ground beneath him trembled violently. In the distance, a massive crater, over ten thousand meters in diameter and thousands of meters deep, appeared. The earth and rocks within were obliterated, leaving no trace—not even a wisp of dust. Everything in that area had been completely annihilated by Haotian's domain principle.
This was the power of destruction!
"My strength is still too weak," he muttered. "When I ascend to demigod or sub-god status, I'll be able to destroy even the space in that area."
Destruction was a supreme principle. With enough power, Haotian could destroy anything in existence, including time and space, reducing everything to chaos or even nothingness.
