Battle for Lindburg IV: Waiting for Backup

"Welp, shit." The leader of the four vampires could only place his head on his palm as he watched the demons approach. 'We were doing so well...' He thought to himself. 'The Light Fanatics just retreated, it's meant to be smooth sailing from here... but where the fuck did these guys even come from?'

The skies on their side of the city were dark, courtesy of Daban's spell. With their main weakness gone, the vampires aided greatly in Hamak's survival. Most of the reinforcements that the Skeleton-king sent out were also alive, but humans could only fight for so long. They have gone for days on end without sleep at this point.

"Retreat, prioritize the wounded." The Green-skinned Hamak barked out. He was very aware of the five demons that just reached their area.

"I have sight on them Hamak, reinforcements will arrive in approximately 30 minutes." Noah who was seeing the entire battlefield was nervous for them. "Demons are converging on Deltrax's location...for the next half an hour, you're on your own."

"30 minutes, I see. Vampires, I know not of who you serve but I was informed that you have only recently turned." If Vantak knew all there was to know about the undead, it wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that Hamak the Warlock is his intellectual equal except his specialty is with demons. "Do you wish to continue with your current master?"

"What do you mean by this, Orc? As much as I'd love to serve Lord Travis, a vampire's progenitor will always be their true master." The leader replied, while still eyeing the demons who appear to be staring at them without making a move. The high grade demons simply floated in the sky, as if they were waiting for their opponents to make the first move.

"You've already sold your autonomy to your vampiric mistress, this is true. But there are ways to give authority to those of a higher power, you've seen my contracted demons have you not? I can promise you this... power that can rival those demons above wouldn't be the half of it-"

Right in the middle of his spiel a Six-armed demon with the head of a bull rammed through the magical shield that Hamak used to protect the group.

"ORC! ORC KNOWS BATTLE! WHy...this orc only speak?" The six-armed minotaur-like demon had Hamak's head in his hand. In broken english the demon continued. "Weakkk why orc weak? ORC HAS TO BE STRONG!"

As Hamak's skull began to crack, he whispered something onto his staff and right before he died he gave the vampires along with Daban one last magical message. One that resounded in the minds of those that were on their side. "Use the book that I left behind, make a contract with a demon known as Argentam. He's one of the original vampiric progeni-"

Hamak's book was in his satchel, the satchel is currently right next to the Gold-grade demon that just killed him. The undead troops around them and the Skeleton king's reinforcements were beginning to fall, but they had a clear goal now.

'This is Daban, I have connected all of us through my magic.' Speaking through his mind, Daban knew that the situation was dire. 'I know how to summon the demon that Hamak mentioned but I'll need that book.'

'Not a problem, the four of us will distract him for now, so long as none of the other demons intervene then we can at least give you that!' The vampires surrounded the large demon. Daban disappeared into a cloud of smoke.

"Hahahah Burganok is enjoying himself down there!" A demon with the head of a tiger laughed to himself. The four Gold-grades were enjoying the show.

"I know that we're meant to be causing chaos around this area, but shouldn't we be focusing on defending the portal?" A demon with four human heads on his torso stacked on top of one another, each face seemed to be in agonizing pain yet not a single scream could be heard.

"Those bastards gave us orders, if they die and the portal closes then who cares?" The Tiger-headed demon shrugged. "I wouldn't think too much about it, let's just watch our dear friend play with his food."

"I sense a powerful demonic presence, it's likely the one who killed off some of our brethren." The demon had the head of a dragonfly, he wore a suit fit for an office worker. "What should we do, Jikalv?"

"Hahaha let him come, let's welcome him to an open field. The lot of you, clean up the arena!" The Tiger-headed demon, Jikalv was the leader of their group. The only Elite Gold-grade among them. His simple orders would mean the death of everyone above ground.

In less than 30 minutes, the entirety of the forces on the southern side of the city would be decimated. All of the undead that Vantak left in the area, the Red-eyed Skeleton King's small army, the four vampires and two of the spellcasters that Travis was proud of.

"All units lost...I repeat all units lost from the former Light Church territory." Noah saw everything, it was a large loss from their side. "Deltrax, prioritize the Tiger demon."

Noah turned his mic off for a few seconds just to scream. "FUCK! FUCK! FUCK!"

The speed in which those five demons arrived in the area was what ruined Noah's otherwise decent plan of simply letting the chips for where they may. Noah pounded his desk, not only guilty for the life lost but angered by his own miscalculations. "I wouldn't have signed off on the plan if I knew that there were more Gold-grades..I..I wouldn't have suggested all these things to the Lord if..if I"

Noah punched himself in the face. "Focus. I need to focus. The fight isn't over yet, Deltrax can likely take care of those demons on his own and with the help of the demons that he did recruit, recapturing the south should be a breeze."

'There's still the matter of reporting this to Lord Travis... fine... whatever, I'd rather do it now when the news is still hot.' Noah turned on his communicator, a message that all of their commanding forces would hear was coming. "The Light Church Territory is now occupied by 5 demons in the Gold-grade. All units including the four vampires, Hamak and Daban have been lost."

---

'Points are points right?' His last statement to try and convince the others to follow him repeated in his mind.

William appears to have led his group to their doom. William and a few other survivors are now hiding inside one of the buildings within the former Light Church territory, doing their best to hide their presence. William's overall knowledge of his city still proved useful, bringing his group to decent hiding spots in the area. William turned off his communicator, which led to Noah's report.

Currently, his group is being pursued by Burganok. Which the group refers to as the Minotaur.

"We're a few alleys away from the junkyard. If he's really following us through scent then that's our best bet." William was regretting his decision, it was clear in his voice.

He was the only one that could guide them. 'I got us into this mess, then I have to get us out of it.'
