Chapter [35]

Kaito observed the scene for a moment, his anger growing with each second as he saw Asia bound to the cross. He could feel the malevolent energy emanating from the mages and Raynare, who was leading the ritual. Determined to stop what was happening, he stepped forward, his presence immediately felt by everyone in the chamber.

"Stop this now!" Kaito shouted, his voice echoing off the stone walls. His bright and ethereal aura illuminated the chamber, causing the mages to hesitate in their chanting.

Raynare looked at Kaito with a mix of surprise and disdain. "Who are you? And why do you think you can interrupt our ritual?"

Before Kaito could respond, Mittelt let out a sarcastic laugh. "Look who showed up. A lost Devil trying to play hero? What a joke."

Kalawarner, unlike Mittelt, remained attentive, her eyes watching Kaito's every move. She knew any interruption could be dangerous.

Kaito raised his hands, and a vibrant energy radiated from them as if he were channeling the very force of nature. From the stone floor of the chamber, tree roots began to sprout, growing rapidly and wrapping around the black-robed mages. The roots were thick and powerful, tightly binding the mages' bodies, interrupting their dark chants and holding them in place.

Mittelt and Kalawarner watched the scene with expressions of surprise and disbelief. Mittelt took a step back, her arrogance disappearing instantly. "What is this? How is he doing that?" Her voice was filled with incredulity.

Kalawarner, on the other hand, remained silent, her eyes wide as she tried to understand what was happening. The presence of Kaito, now emanating undeniable power, was something she had never seen before. "This isn't demonic magic..." she murmured to herself, trying to comprehend the nature of Kaito's power.

Raynare, however, was overcome with intense anger. Her plan was being disrupted right before her eyes, and Kaito's presence, with his new powers, only increased her fury. "How dare you interfere?!" she shouted, her eyes glowing with a dark and threatening energy. "You will pay for this, wretch!"

Meanwhile, Asia began to regain consciousness. Her eyes opened slowly, still filled with tears, and she vaguely saw the figure of Kaito before her, glowing with an ethereal light. "Kaito..." she murmured, her voice weak but filled with hope. Before she could say anything more, exhaustion overtook her, and she fainted again, her body relaxing in the chains that bound her.

Kaito heard Asia murmur his name, a soft sound full of hope amidst the chaos. He knew he needed to act quickly to save her.

The energy around Kaito intensified as he clenched his fists. The roots binding the black-robed mages began to tighten even more, emitting sounds of creaking and cracking. The mages struggled but were quickly crushed by the relentless force of the roots, their bodies contorting before becoming still. The air filled with the muffled sound of breaking bones and the mages' final gasps.

Mittelt and Kalawarner were momentarily distracted by the death of the mages, their expressions of surprise and horror visible. Mittelt took a step back, her eyes wide with shock. "He... he killed them!" She exclaimed, unable to comprehend the extent of Kaito's power.

Kalawarner, equally surprised, tried to process what was happening. "This can't be... How does he have so much power?" She murmured, her wings trembling slightly with tension.

Raynare, consumed by anger and confusion, turned to Kaito with an expression of intense fury. "You will pay for this!" she shouted, but before she could act, Kaito took advantage of the fallen angels' distraction.

With a quick and decisive movement, Kaito activated his teleportation circle, enveloped by his ethereal energy. In an instant, he materialized beside the cross where Asia was bound. The iron chains that held her were quickly broken by him, shattered with his power-imbued hands.

Asia fell into Kaito's arms, unconscious but safe. He held her carefully, her frail and light body in his arms. "I'm here, Asia. You're safe now," he whispered, feeling a wave of relief and determination.

Raynare, Kalawarner, and Mittelt couldn't react in time. Kaito, still holding Asia, activated another teleportation circle. In the blink of an eye, he disappeared from the abandoned church, taking Asia to a safe place.

Raynare was paralyzed for a moment as Kaito and Asia vanished in a beam of light. The reality of the situation hit her like an avalanche. Her entire plan had been thwarted, and the presence of Kaito, with his new powers, only fueled her rage. With a scream of pure fury, she began to destroy everything around her.

"Fools!" she screamed, her voice echoing off the stone walls of the chamber. Raynare hurled a spear of light at the wooden cross, which shattered into pieces instantly. She turned to the fallen mages, kicking and punching the inert bodies, her frustration and anger pouring out with each blow.

Mittelt stood frozen, watching the scene with wide eyes. She didn't know how to handle Raynare's emotional meltdown. The fury of her leader was something she had never witnessed before, and it left her petrified with fear and uncertainty. She wanted to say something, maybe calm Raynare down, but the words wouldn't come. Her body trembled slightly, and all she could do was watch in silence.

Kalawarner, on the other hand, was absorbed in her thoughts. The image of the man who saved Asia, his glowing aura and the power he emanated, were etched in her mind. She knew he was much stronger than any of them. The fear mixed with admiration filled her thoughts. "How can someone be so powerful?" she repeatedly wondered. "He wasn't just a Devil... there was something more to him."

Raynare continued her rampage, knocking down torches, tearing old wooden pews from the floor, and hurling beams of energy at the walls, sending chunks of stone flying everywhere. Her scream of frustration echoed again through the chamber, making the walls vibrate with the intensity of her anger.

"He will pay for this!" Raynare shouted, her words dripping with venom. "I will find that wretch and destroy him! He will not escape my grasp!"

Mittelt took a hesitant step forward, trying to find her voice. "Raynare... we... what are we going to do now?"

Raynare turned to Mittelt, her eyes blazing with intense fury. "We will rise again, Mittelt. We will regain our strength and go after him. We will not allow a bug like him to humiliate us this way."

Kalawarner, still lost in her thoughts, looked at Raynare and Mittelt. "We need to be cautious," she said, her voice calm and thoughtful. "He is much stronger than any of us. If we go after him, we need to be prepared."

Raynare took a step forward, her expression still filled with anger but also determination. "I will not rest until he pays for what he did. We will prepare, Kalawarner. Mittelt, you too. This is not over yet."

Mittelt and Kalawarner nodded, knowing they needed to follow Raynare, even though the situation was extremely dangerous. They prepared to leave the church, their minds focused on how they could face the new and powerful enemy that had emerged in their path.
