GODDESS OF FATE (3)

Giovanni crouched down to stare at the strange, serpentine creature with scales that seemed to shimmer like the pages of an ancient tome. Its long, sinuous body was curled protectively around a stack of worn leatherbound books as if guarding a precious hoard. Intrigued, he reached out a hand and his fingertips grazed its scales. They were warm to the touch, pulsing with an energy that seemed to flow through the books themselves.

He curiously threw his head over his shoulder when he caught his name being whispered in the air, a name he had not been called in a long time. Where was that voice coming from? His heart unconsciously raced, the sound pounding in his ear as he scanned the large library. Was it one of the fluttering tomes that whispered his name? But how would they know that he was ever referred to as Gino before he stuck to his govvy?
